NIFT Admission 2024 : Registration Started, Syllabus & New Pattern

NIFT 2024 registration will soon commence on nift.ac.in. Candidates can review the list of documents needed for NIFT registration in 2024. The last date to apply for NIFT 2024 is 31st December 2023. This exam is a national-level entrance exam conducted once a year. National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is India’s most famous and highly appreciated institute for Fashion Designing and Technology and has their Institutes across India, all of them which offer admission centrally based on the NIFT 2024 Examination.   • The NIFT ET 2024 written exam is expected to be held in the first week of February 2024.

  • NIFT 2024 Application Form: The online application form for NIFT ET 2024 is expected to be released in the first week of November 2023. Candidates can access the form on the official website at nift.ac.in.

2. Creative Ability Test (CAT): This test is administered for both UG and PG Design Programmes to judge the intuitive ability, power of observation in concept development, and design ability of the candidate. An important aspect of the test is the creative and innovative use of colour and illustration skills.

  1. General Knowledge and Current Affairs: This sub-test is designed to test the candidate’s general knowledge and current affairs.
  2. Case Study: This sub-test is based on a situation of an industry environment. It helps to evaluate the candidate’s managerial ability.
Students qualifying B.Des written test will take up the Situation Test mentioned below:
  • Situation Test which is a hands-on test to evaluate the candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability on a given situation with a given set of materials. No additional material will be provided/allowed.
  • The model will be evaluated on space visualization, innovative and creative use of given material, the composition of elements, colour scheme, construction skill, the finesse of the model and overall presentation, etc.
  • Above mentioned parameters will be checked with the write up explaining the concept behind the model constructed. Since the medium of instruction in NIFT is English, the write-up will be in English. No marks will be given for write-up in any other language.

NIFT ET 2024 Answer Key

National Institute of Fashion Technology has released the NIFT ET 2024 Provisional Answer Key on the official website. Check further information below:
  • Candidates can view the NIFT Entrance Test Response Key and submit their objection, if any, regarding any of the questions.
  • Candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs. 500/- (Rs. Five Hundred Only) per question will be charged for each objection submitted.
  • If the objection submitted by the candidates found valid by the subject experts, the fee collected from the candidate for that particular question will be refunded.
  • To view the corresponding answer key, applicants have to enter their roll number, date of birth, and question booklet series.

Group Discussion: It would comprise approximately 15 to 20 minutes of discussion on a case study assigned, on which a panel of experts will assess the candidates on various parameters including:

NIFT ET 2024 Result

NIFT ET 2024 Counselling

NIFT 2024 Counselling will be conducted after the declaration of Final Results in June 2024. Below mentioned are the guidelines for students to follow up and to have a smooth sail in the process of NIFT 2024 counselling:

Documents Required for NIFT ET 2024 Counselling Process

Below mentioned Original Documents along with their photocopies will be required in the process:

  1. Original certificates of qualifying examination i.e. 12th class/degree (marks Sheet and Certificate).
  2. In case of admission to PG courses, the candidates will also be required to bring the original certificate (Mark Sheet and Certificate) of the qualifying degree examination. In case the candidate has appeared in the final semester/ final year (as applicable) then he/she will have to bring the original mark sheet of all the previous semester/years.
  3. In case the candidate has appeared for qualifying exam/compartment (of final year/semester) and the result is due, the date sheet /admit card for examination has to be brought.
  4. Bank Draft(s) of requisite fee in favour of “NIFT HO” has to be bought. The name of the candidate, date of counselling, phone/ mobile no., name of the program, Category, Rank, and Roll Number is to be mentioned at the back of Bank Draft(s).
  5. Proof of date of birth (Secondary School Mark Sheet & Certificate) (Original and Photocopy).
  6. SC/ST/OBC - Non-Creamy/PWD (supported with requisite Certificate). For State Domicile seats the status of domicile will be decided by the address of school/college (qualifying degree) last attended whichever applicable.
  7. Basis of funding of the tuition fee/ certificate of the parent's income e.g. Income Tax Return of 2019-20, Salary Certificate of March’2020, etc.
  8. Certificate of Medical Fitness to be signed by a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format in original.
  9. Affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs.10/- for seeking provisional admission only in case, the result of the qualifying examination is yet to be declared.

NIFT ET 2024 Application Form

NIFT 2024 Registration Form details are mentioned below for all the Undergraduate and Postgraduate aspirants which must be read properly before filling NIFT Application Form 2024.
  • NIFT Registration 2024 is available on the official website.
  • A correction window will be provided to the applicants for one week where the NIFT entrance exam 2024 application form can be rectified, in case of a mistake. 
  • The final last dates to fill the registration forms with a late fee and the fee would cost around INR 5000/-.
  • Applicants must fill all the required information correctly and there should be no wrong/false entries made by the applicants as it can lead to cancellation of candidature at any stage of admission if found by the authorities.

Mode of Payment: The fee can be submitted via online and offline mode. Candidates can choose any one of the below-given options as per convenience.
Online Mode:

Candidates can submit the application fee through payment gateway i.e. Credit Cards/Debit Cards. The bank and/or transaction charges on the application fee will be borne by the candidate.

Offline Mode:

Demand Draft Payment of application fee can be made through Bank Demand Draft. The DD should be issued in favor of “NIFT HO”, payable at New Delhi. The details of the Demand Draft are to be filled in the online application form. Candidates are advised to check the following details carefully before sending the Demand Draft to the authority :

  • Name, Date, Amount & Signature of the issuing authority on the Demand Draft.

NIFT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

NIFT 2024 Eligibility Criteria is stated below and the candidates must read through the section before applying for the NIFT entrance test. 

For Bachelor's Programmes (B.Des, B.FTech)

Qualifying Age:
  • Maximum age should be 23 years . The upper age limit may be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for candidates of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/ Person with Disability (PWD) categories
Educational qualification:
1. For Bachelor of Design (B.Des) Programmes (Fashion Design/Leather Design/Accessory Design/Textile Design/Knitwear Design/Fashion Communication)
  • The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education / State Board New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi.   OR
  • A passing grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.    OR
  • 3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.    OR
  • Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.    OR
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB).
2. Educational qualification for Bachelor of Fashion Technology (Apparel Production) (B.FTech) Programme
  • The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.    OR
  • 3 or 4-years diploma in any branch of Engineering recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.    OR
  • A passing grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.    OR
  • Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.    OR
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / International Baccalaureate (IB).

For Master's Programmes (M.Des, M.F.M, and M.FTech)

Qualifying Age: No age limit
Educational Qualification:
1. For Master’s Programme in Design- MDes (Master of Design)
  • Undergraduate Degree in any discipline from any Institute/University recognized by law in India.    OR
  • Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT / NID.
Note: Master of Design (MDes) is an advanced course that demands an understanding of fundamentals in design and presupposes that candidates would be familiar with the basic skills and theories for successful completion of the program. The course would not provide any basic knowledge and skill development in design as a part of its Master’s program.
2. For the Master’s Programme in Fashion Management- M.F.M (Master of Fashion Management)
  • Undergraduate Degree in any discipline from any Institute/University recognized by law in India.    OR
  • Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT/NID.
3. For the Master’s Programme in Fashion Technology- M.FTech (Master of Fashion Technology)
  • F.Tech. from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).    OR
  • E/B.Tech. from any Institute/University recognized by law in India.
SEATS FOR FOREIGN NATIONAL/SAARC/NRI AND DOMICILE CATEGORIES
  1. Qualifying Age:
  • For UG Programmes: Maximum age should be 23 years as on First October 2018. The upper age limit may be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for candidates of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Person with Disability (PWD) categories.
  • For PG Programmes: No age limit.
  1. Academic Eligibility
  • All candidates must satisfy the required academic qualifications listed for the concerned course. In case the Degree/certificate has been obtained from a University /Board of any other country then an equivalence certificate must be obtained from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) New Delhi before admission. Foreign nationals applying to NIFT must possess a working knowledge of the English language.
Admission Rights reserved by the NIFT:
  • The mere fact of qualifying the entrance examination shall not entitle a candidate for admission to a program.
  • If NIFT is not satisfied with character, past behaviour, or antecedents of a candidate, it can refuse to admit him/her to any course of study at any Campus or cancel the admission at a later stage.
  • If at any stage it is found that a candidate has got admission in any Campus /Programme based on false information, or by hiding relevant facts or if it is found that admission was given due to any mistake or oversight, the admission granted to such candidate shall be liable to be cancelled forthwith without any notice at any time during his/ her studies by the DG-NIFT and fee deposited by the candidate will be forfeited.
  • If a candidate does not report to the allotted / re-allotted NIFT campus within 7 days of commencement of the session, the admission of the candidate will stand cancelled without any intimation and the tuition fee paid shall be forfeited.
  • The Director-General may cancel the admission of any student for a specific reason or debar him/her for a certain period.
  • It will be the sole responsibility of the candidate to make sure that they are eligible and fulfil all the conditions prescribed for admission. Before the issue of admission receipt at the time of allotment of seats, candidates should ensure that he/she fulfils all eligibility criteria as laid down in Admission brochure. If it is found at any stage during the entire period of the program that the candidate does not fulfil the requisite eligibility conditions, his/her admission will be cancelled and the entire fee will be forfeited.
  • The merit ranking will be valid only for the program/ category for which the candidate has appeared and cannot be utilized for admission to any other program/ category. Further, the merit ranking of the candidate shall be valid only for the academic session of 2022.

NIFT 2024 Admit Card Following guidelines must be followed by all the aspirants to avoid any kind of hassle during their examination:
  • Applicants are supposed to download their Admit cards from the NIFT official website as the Admit Cards will not be sent by post to any applicant.
  • Candidates had to take the admit card along with themselves to the examination centre without which they might not be allowed to take the examination.
  • Applicants must carry a government Photo ID proof in original for cross verification and a self-attested photocopy if mentioned.
