    On Friday, March 17, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Ashok Gehlot, announced the creation of 19 new districts and 3 new divisions during a discussion on the finance and appropriation bill in Jaipur. He also made various other significant announcements, including providing free smartphones to 40 lakh women in the first phase under the Chief Minister Digital Service Scheme. Anupgarh, Balotara, Beawar, Deeg, Deedwana-Kuchaman, Dudu, Gangapur City, Jaipur North, Jaipur South, Jodhpur East, Jodhpur West, Kekri, Kotputli-Behror, Khairthal, Neem ka Thana, Phalodi, Salumber, Sanchore, and Shahpura will be made into districts, and Banswara, Pali, and Sikar will become divisions.

    Additionally, the Chief Minister announced that construction work of roads, bridges, and railway over bridges worth Rs 2500 crore will take place in various areas of the state. He also stated that the Govind Devji temple in Jaipur will be developed by spending Rs 100 crore on the lines of Mahakal Temple in Ujjain, and the Pushkar Development Authority will be formed to oversee the overall development of Teerthraj Pushkar. Moreover, domestic electricity connections will be provided to 2 lakh families at a cost of Rs 1000 crore, and water connections will be given to 3 lakh families of 1473 villages and 8 towns of Udaipur, Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh, and Rajsamand districts under Jal Jeevan Mission at a cost of Rs 4674 crore.

    In education, a bridge course will be conducted for students up to class VIII with a cost of Rs 75 crore to make up for education loss during the corona period. Additionally, 500 primary schools will be upgraded to upper primary schools and 500 upper primary schools to higher secondary schools. The Science, Commerce, and Agriculture faculty/subjects will be introduced in 400 higher secondary schools. Children studying in madrasas will also be provided with 2 sets of uniforms free, and 6843 education instructors will be recruited.

    Pension benefits

    Furthermore, pension benefits will be approved on the same day of retirement from May 2023, and pensioners above the age of 75 years will be given a 10% additional allowance on their basic salary. Shri Gehlot also made various other important announcements in areas such as youth development, sports, medical and health, road safety, social security, infrastructure facilities, drinking water, industries, energy, forest and environment, tourism, art and culture, agriculture, and law and order situation.

    According to Shri Gehlot, Rajasthan’s economic condition is currently strong due to the excellent financial management of the state government. Despite the pandemic’s conditions, the state is moving forward on the path of economic progress. Around 16% of the promises made in the people’s manifesto are in progress, and 80% have been completed. Additionally, 250 announcements out of 1018 made during the 2023-24 budget have been approved. He stated that Rajasthan has become a Model State due to important decisions such as Chiranjeevi, Udaan, Social Security, Free Ration, and OPS.
