Compartment Exam are held for Class 10th and Class 12th after result declaration every year. The board has given a chance to students who were not able to pass the examination. Because nobody wants to repeat the same class. Usually, the examination conducts in the month of July. CBSE Class 10th Compartment Result 2024 Live Updates:
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official schedule for the CBSE Compartment Exams 2024 on 7 June 2024. However, the exam dates have been announced, and the exams will be held from 15 July 2024 to 22 July for class 10th and 15 July 2024 single day for class 12th. The detailed subject-wise date sheet has been released on the CBSE official website.
Eligibility for CBSE Compartment Exams 2024: Students who have failed in one or two subjects in the CBSE Class 10 or Class 12 exams 2024 are eligible to appear for the CBSE Compartment Exams 2024.
CBSE Compartment Exam 2024
The CBSE Compartment Exam 2024 is an opportunity for students who have failed in one or more subjects in the CBSE Class 10 or Class 12 exams to improve their scores. The CBSE Compartment Exam 2024 exam will be conducted from 15 July 2024 onwards and on 15 July one day only for class 12th.
The following are the eligibility criteria for the CBSE Compartment Exam 2024:
- The candidate must have appeared in the CBSE Class 10 or Class 12 exams in 2024.
- The candidate must have failed or secured less than the minimum qualifying marks in one or two subjects.
The following are the steps on how to apply for the CBSE Compartment Exam 2024:
- Visit the CBSE website.
- Click on the “Compartment Exam” link.
- Fill out the application form.
- Attach the required documents.
- Pay the application fee.
- Submit the application form.
The application form for the CBSE Compartment Exam 2024 will be available on the CBSE website from 31 May 2024 to June 16, 2024. The application fee is Rs. 300 per subject in India, 1000 for Nepal and 2000 rupees for NRI candidates.
The results of the CBSE Compartment Exam 2024 will be declared in August 2024. The marks obtained in the compartment exam will be added to the original marks, and the final result will be declared.

- The exam will be held from 15 July to 22 July 2024.
- The exam will be conducted in the same format as the regular board exams.
- The syllabus for the compartment exam will be the same as the syllabus for the regular board exams.

Schedule for class 10th Compartment Exams
The compartment exams for Class 10th will start from 15 July 2024. Exams will be held within the timing from 10:30 to 1:30. Candidates can check the schedule when it is available on CBSE portal.
Schedule for Class 12th Compartment Exams
The compartment exams for Class 12th will be conducted on 15 july only. the exam timing will be from 10:30 to 1:30 and 10:30 to 12:30. Candidates can check the schedule when it is published by CBSE.
General Instructions to be followed before Appearing for Exams:
1. All instructions issued in Examination Centres will be strictly adhered to by the candidates.
2. Candidates will follow all instructions given in Admit Card.
3. Duration for each examination will be as given in the date-sheet and Admit Card.
4. Answer books would be distributed to candidates between 10.00 A.M. – 10.15 A.M.
5. Question paper will be distributed at 10.15 A.M.
6. From 10.15 A.M. – 10.30 A.M. (15 minutes), candidates shall read the question paper.
7. At 10.30 A.M. candidates will start writing the answers.
8. In addition to theory Examination given above, there will also be practical examination in respect of those candidates who have failed in practical in a subject involving practical.
9. Candidate appearing for the Compartmental Examination in a subject involving practical work
are required to appear in theory only in case they have passed in practical.
10. Candidate examination in respect of private candidate will be held at the theory examination
centre unless otherwise notified.
11. Private candidate should contact the Principal of the school of their theory examination centers for date and time of practical examination before theory examination is over. The practical
examination should be completed before September, 2024.
12. Practical examination for regular candidates in all the subjects will be held at each school for
their own candidates.

CBSE Compartment 2024 Exam Eligibility Criteria
The applicants can check the eligibility criteria for CBSE Class 12th as well as Class 10th students are given as follows.
CBSE 12th Compartment Exam 2024 Eligibility Criteria:
- Students who failed in any one of their five subjects are eligible to appear in CBSE Compartment Examination.
- Candidate having 6 subjects and got compartment in two subjects can appear in any one of the two compartmental subjects.
- Students who have 6 subjects and declared PASS but could not clear one subject, can appear as an Improvement category in July 2024.
- The applicant will be given three chances to clear their compartment exam 2024. The first one will be in July 2024, the second one in March/April 2025 and last chance will be in July 2025.
CBSE 10th Compartment 2024 Exam Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidate can apply for CBSE Compartment Exam only in one or two subjects in which they are placed in the Compartment.
- The students who have appeared in Class 10th exam and are placed in EIOP (Eligible for Improvement of Performance) category will eligible for the exam.
- Students who are placed in the EIOP category will be given only one opportunity to appear in the exam. If a student fails to clear the exam and gets NIOP (Not Eligible for Improvement of Performance) in their CBSE Compartment Result 2024, then the candidate cannot appear in the second chance.
How to apply for CBSE Compartment 2024 Exam?
There is a different application form procedure for regular and private students. Candidate can check complete procedure for online form submission:
- Go to the official website i.e. cbse.gov.in
- Enter on “Online Application for Class XII Compartment / Class X Improvement of Performance Examination”.
- After that look, for “Online Submission of LOC for Compartment/IOP Exam 2024” or “Online Application for Private Candidate for Compartment/IOP Examination 2024”.
- The applicant selects a suitable link as per his/her class i.e. 12th or 10th Class. Submit Roll Number, School Code, Centre Number and click on “Proceed” Button.
- Then, upload the scanned copy of your photo and signature.
- After that, go to the fee payment option. The applicant can submit the fee via demand draft or e-challan.
- After making the payment, click on the “Submit” button and take a printout of the confirmation page for future purpose.
- Lastly, Candidate has to send documents to the address of the regional office within 7 days. Documents such as a photocopy of the confirmation page, photocopy of mark sheet and e-challan must be sent.
Enrollment as a CBSE Private Candidates 2024
As per CBSE circular, Candidates Eligible to apply as Private Candidate for All India Secondary School Examination (CLASS X) is given below.
Class 10th Compartment (02 SUBJECTS):
- Candidate applying under COMPARTMENT category cannot apply for appearing in Additional subject together.
- Students fall under COMPARTMENT category in March 2024 and July 2024 to apply only in the subject in which he/she has been placed in the Compartment.
- Such a candidate who has been fall in the compartment in two subjects may opt for appearing in 5/6/7 subjects in which he/she had appeared in March 2024 Board examination. Such candidate should select his/her category as FAILURE while applying online.
- Candidate applying under COMPARTMENT category cannot apply for appearing in Additional subject together.

Class 12th Class Compartment (1 SUBJECT):
- Candidates applying under COMPARTMENT category cannot apply for appearing in Additional subject together.
- Students whose result has been declared as COMPARTMENT in March 2024 and July 2024 to apply only in the subject in which he/she has been placed in Compartment.
- Candidates who got Compartment in one subject may also apply for appearing in 5/6 subjects in which he/she had appeared in March 2024 Board Examination.
- Such candidates should select his/her category as FAILURE while applying online.
- Students applying under COMPARTMENT category cannot apply for appearing in Additional subject together.

GENERAL INFORMATION
- Schools will be able to download Admit Cards from 1st week of July 2024. Further, in case of any discrepancy in the Admit card, schools must contact the concerned Regional Office of the Board.
- In case of any difficulty/queries regarding online submission, the Applicant can contact IT Unit of concerned Regional Offices.
- Visually impaired students are exempted from examination fee of Class 10th/12th.
- The consolidated mark sheet will be released only to Candidates whose result was declared COMPARTMENT in 2024 examination and thereafter declared Pass in Compartment July 2024 Examination.
- Finally, the consolidated mark sheet will not be released to candidates whose result is already Pass and now appearing for Improvement of Performance.
CBSE Compartment Exam FAQs
Students can appear for three subsequent chances of compartment examination in class XII i.e., if a candidate appears for 2024 examination and placed in compartment then he can appear in July the same year, Second Chance in March/April and Third Chance in July of 2025.
A candidate can appear only in one subject since CBSE compartment exam in class XII is a single day examination.
