NMC is replacing Medical Council of India (MCI): On Monday, the Union Health Ministry finalized 25 members of the recently constituted National Medical Commission (NMC). On 28th August 2019, the act was passed which declares that there will be one uniform exam for Undergraduate courses and Postgraduate Super-Specialty courses.

The members include 10 Vice-Chancellors (VCs) from different states, 9 members from the State Medical Councils (SMCs) and 4 part-time members from the autonomous boards. These members replace the Medical Council of India with the Health Ministry. The nominations sent by the state governments, union territories and state medical council to draw and participate in the constitution of the National Medical Commission Act 2019.

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said that “The work on NMC is being done one time. We had nine months to select the members of the NMC, and within a short span of two months, we have framed the rules, notified them and also carried out the process of selection of the part-time members of the NMC.

The 10 VCs have been decided on from West Bengal, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The authorities also chose four contributors, who will serve as element-time members, from the independent forums – Undergraduate (UG), Post Graduate (PG), Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) and Ethics and Registration Board. They have been selected from Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, and Madhya Pradesh.

Further, 9 representatives were additionally selected from State Medical Council (SMCs) specifically–Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim, Kerala, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, and Manipur.

The health ministry also stated that different NMC participants consist of one senior officer of Additional Secretary rank, one Director from any AIIMS and any administrators might be selected from the PGIMER, Chandigarh, JIGMER, Puducherry, Tata Memorial Hospital, North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong and All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health (AIIHPH), Kolkata.

The National Medical Commission Act, 2019 obtained assent of the President on 08th August 2019 and become posted within the legitimate Gazette on an equal day. The Central Government sought nominations from the States / UTs and State Medical Councils (SMCs) for a charter of the Medical Advisory Council below the National Medical Commission Act, 2019.

Latest Update

  • The National Medical Commission (NMC) has substituted the Medical Council of India (BoG-MCI), as per facts released by the Health Ministry on Friday.
  • Suresh Chandra Sharma, former head of ENT, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, has been appointed as its president for three years.
  • The NMC will hold four respective independent boards under-graduate medical education, post-graduate medical education, medical assessment and standing and ethics and medical enrollment.

Careers of Tomorrow: The 21st century has posed new challenges and opportunities. Changes in social-economic structures, technology, human aspirations, geopolitics and governance, all are affecting our everyday life. In this scenario, we also need to rethink the way we plan our careers.

One thing that is clear about the careers of tomorrow is that they are not static. Compared to traditional professions and businesses, the future is extremely dynamic. This means that what we learn today might become irrelevant or incomplete tomorrow. Therefore, a career will not depend on what you studied in an undergraduate degree. Unlearning and relearning become key capabilities to develop in our young students.

At Rishihood University, we are taking this seriously. The way our programs and pedagogy are designed is to ensure that the students develop an appetite to learn. Once that ability is there, students can use external impetus and internal motivation to pick up new knowledge. Learning becomes a part of a lifestyle rather than something we do in classrooms. This is a critical capability that educators should build in the students. Doing this is not as easy as it may sound. Below, I share some thoughts on how this can be done.

The students should realize the relevance of what they are learning. In many cases, the curriculum is outdated. It sucks the enthusiasm out of the faculty and the students because they know that what they are learning is not going to make a difference. We need to be ready to radically reform the curriculum. It should start with ‘why’. We should include in our curriculum those topics which really serve a purpose for society. At Rishihood, every course begins with a reason to study that course.

Another way to ensure that learning is fun is to make it as hands-on as possible. Projects, case studies, assignments, visits, internships, and apprenticeships are a great way to learn. They provide students a real-life understanding of the topic. They are able to place their learnings in their perspective and contextualize it for their own growth. An example of this is how we teach at the Rishihood School of Entrepreneurship. Our teaching model is a combination of an incubator and boot camps. The students will build their startups during their studies under faculty mentorship. Formal classes and workshops will only when needed, in a natural flow as the students progress in their journey of building a startup. It will be supplemented by guest speakers, industry visits, and internships.

If you are a student searching for a successful career for tomorrow, find something that interests you and then make it your purpose. Yet, be ready to pivot as the situation evolves. The days are gone where we could say with certainty about the success of a career. The three careers of past – engineers, lawyers, doctors – no longer guarantee success. Similarly, there is no profession that is devoid of success. From bloggers to chefs, from designers to entrepreneurs, we see an increasing number of successful professionals.

The future is full of opportunities. So if you are looking at a career that is future-proof, there is none. “The only way to success is the ability to reinvent ourselves and stay ahead in a changing world”.

Ranked A++ by NAAC and the 5th Best Overall University in India in the 2021 National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF), Amrita University has announced that admissions for its engineering courses are now open. Amrita invites all students to #Claimyourfuture by applying to Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s engineering programs and acing the Amrita Engineering Entrance Examination (AEEE) or one of the other four eligibility examinations, which include the Remote Proctored Examination (CBT or RPE), JEE Mains 2021, SAT, or Pearson UG Entrance Examination Score (PUEE). For AEEE – Engineering 2022 Centre Based Test, the university is following the JEE Mains format. Eligibility for the AEEE test requires a 12th grade or equivalent from a recognised board, with a minimum of 55 percent each in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics separately, and a minimum of 60 percent in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics aggregately. Candidates for admission must have been born on or after July 1, 2001. For admissions to B.Tech. programs at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s four campuses in Amritapuri (Kerala), Bengaluru, Chennai, and Coimbatore, AEEE 2021 will be held online in two rounds in February and May 2022. To qualify for admission, eligible candidates can take any portion of the online/offline test. Offline, the same examination is carried out. The candidate has the option of selecting the examination mode. A student would be allowed a maximum of three attempts, with the best score being used to rank them. Amrita School of Engineering has 50% of its total seats allocated for scholarships and has a record of 88% successful placements from international and reputed MNC’s in 2021 with a highest package of 56.95 lakhs per annum. CAT Exam Pattern 2022 will be released by the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode. Common Admission Test question pattern consists of 26 questions in the VARC and QA section and 24 questions in the DILR section. The duration of the CAT will be 02 hours (120 Minutes) and for each section, the time limit will be 40 Minutes. Read the whole article to know more about CAT Exam Pattern.

CAT Exam Pattern 2022 Important Points

Applicants can check hereunder CAT 2022 Question Paper Pattern:
  • CAT Exam 2022 is a computer-based test but not an online test i.e. candidate cannot use the internet while giving the exam.
  • DURATION OF THE EXAM: 3 hours.
  • CAT EXAM is divided into 3 sections of 60 minutes each. The 3 sections are as follows; VARC-Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, DILR-Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and QA-Quantitative Ability.
  • Candidates cannot move from one section to another during the 1 hour assigned to the particular section.
  • Candidates taking the CAT test could not leave their seats during the exam.
  • Non-MCQs in CAT exam pattern will require the candidate to type in the correct answer on the computer screen.

  • Each wrong answer for MCQ will be imposed a penalty of the 1/3rd  negative mark (-1 mark)

As they said in an official statement “CAT is not an online exam. It is a digital or Computer Based Test (CBT); not an Internet-Based Test (IBT); that is, a candidate will not take the exam on an internet site. Instead of reading the questions in a paper booklet and darkening the ovals on answer sheet, a candidate will read the questions on a computer terminal and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option”.
