The School of Law, Bennett University proudly announces the launch of the BuLexConvo Series. The BuLexConvo Series was conceptualised as a platform to bring debate and discussion about various emerging legal issues with socio-economic dimensions to the forefront of academic conversations. The term Lex connotes “law” and Convo connotes conversation. The idea behind using the term “Convo” is to give interested stakeholders a chance to think out of the box and offer unconventional but sustainable solutions
The first event under the aegis of BuLexConvo, a national conference titled ‘Conundrum of Theory and Practice in Legal Education’ is set to take place on the 15th and 16th of February 2019 at the School of Law, Bennett University, Greater Noida.
The conference seeks to ask several disruptive questions which go against the grain. It will deliberate on the theory-practice chasm and its impact, lack of research quotient in law, technology disruption of attention span, lack of innovation in clinical legal education, innovation in continuing legal education and attendant issues.
The conference to be addressed eminent legal academics, emerging young academics and Apex Court Lawyers. Those who have consented include Prof. Menon founder of the first law school in the country, Prof. Ranbir Singh Founder Vice-Chancellor of NALSAR and NLU Delhi, Prof. Venkat Rao, Vice-Chancellor of NLS Bangalore, Dr.Lalith Bhashin, President of Society of Indian Law Firms, Mr.Venkataramani, Senior Advocate of Supreme Court, Prof.Vijay Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of NLU Bhopal, Prof.Faizan Mustafa Vice-Chancellor of NALSAR, Prof. Rajkumar, Vice-Chancellor of Jindal Global University, Mr Ramachander Rao, Co-Chairman of BCI and other prominent academics and legal practitioners.
Legal academia cannot be limited to teaching, writing and the presentation of research. Rather, all these practices could be further enhanced by instilling a sense of enquiry and analysis. The BuLexConvo series hopes to establish the School of Law at Bennett University as a trailblazing forum for future legal debates in India.
The conference also invites participates from academia and law firms to participate and interact with the invited resource persons. Contact – [email protected]The BuLexConvo Series was conceptualised as a platform to bring debate and discussion about various emerging legal issues.Entrancezone

CBSE Consider Encrypted Exam Papers Next Year: After facing an extremely big paper leak issue recently, the Central Board of Secondary Education has adopted the method of encrypted question papers in 32 centres across the nation on Monday. Due to the issue of the class 10th mathematics and class 12th economics question paper leaks, the board has decided to initiate the idea of encrypted question papers which would be delivered to the centres directly. The board was conducting a pilot survey to see if encrypted question papers could be sent to designated exam centres just before the exam, downloaded, printed and xeroxed for distribution by the time the examination starts.
CBSE Board 2020 TIME TABLE
CBSE Board 10th & 12th Time-table key dates are mentioned in the table below.
Earlier, these question papers were printed, locked up in banks and then distributed to various centres an hour before the said examination. Unfortunately, this system has failed. To facilitate these new measures, the CBSE will offer logistical support for its new encrypted system to various centres. Equipment like printers, internet connection, computers, photocopy machines and regular power supply will be given to these exam centres.
The CBSE also have to ensure that sudden internet connectivity problem, or another similar problem, should not occur at the last minute at any centre, also putting in place a Plan-B if such a problem arose.
In case of emergency, the board has also decided to keep a few hard copies of question papers and these papers vary from the encrypted ones.
The method of encrypted question papers is only applicable for the Class 10th compartmental examination, and not to the class 12th compartmental examination.
The board initiated the method as a result of the recommendations given by the committee members. According to the board members, if the method works well, the board will look forward to adopting it in the 2020 board examinations in order to avoid further leakage.

How different is the proposed HECI from the present UGC? The Higher Education Commission of will be a new avatar of UGC with a different vision, focus and commands. The University Grants Commission, India’s national overseer for higher education may be abandoned, as it stands. As said by the Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar, the education regulator could be replaced by a higher education commission. The HECI will be set up to surrogate UGC which will emphasise on promoting brilliance and facilitating the growth of the Indian education system.
UGC soon to be repealed by Higher Education Commission, India
MCI and UGC completely outdated, worst kind of institutions: Amitabh KantEconomics Times
“Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi has embarked on a process of reforms of the regulatory agencies for the better administration of the HE sector (sic). In a landmark decision, a draft Act for repeal of #UGC & setting up #HECI (Higher Education Commission of India) has been prepared,” Javadekar tweeted.
— Prakash Javadekar (@PrakashJavdekar) June 27, 2018
HECI would focus merely on students interest and academic matters.
The proposed authority will be freed of monetary funds and will solely focus on educational terms, according to the draft.
The Act will be named The Higher Education Commission of India Act, 2019 that will be set up after dismantling the UGC Act, 1951. The draft has been circulated for feedbacks on the HRD Ministry website. The HRD Ministry has appealed to all educationists, stakeholders, sponsors and the general public for their comments and suggestions. The new draft law is likely to be scheduled in the Parliament during the monsoon session.
“There will be an Advisory Council to render advice to the Commission on matters concerning coordination and determination of standards in the country. This will be represented by the Chairpersons/Vice-Chairpersons of State Councils for Higher Education and chaired by the HRD Minister,” as mentioned in the draft law.
“The Commission shall have the power to grant authorization for starting of academic operations on the basis of their compliance with norms of academic quality. It will also have the powers to revoke authorization granting to a higher education institution where there is a case of wilful or continuous default in compliance with the norms,” it added.
The government decided to modify the commission as they felt that the UGC is mostly preoccupied with disbursing grants and is unable to focus on its other key matters including mentoring institutes, focusing on research and quality measures in the sector.
“The draft Act is in accordance with the commitment of Government for reforming the regulatory systems that provide for more autonomy and facilitate the holistic growth of the education system.” says the minister.

He discussed about exam-related issues with lakhs of students across the country, through a video conference from the same venue. On the occasion, he had begun by saying, “Forget that you are talking to a prime minister, talk to me as a friend and share with me all the doubts you have. It is like an exam for me. You are all my examiners. Let’s see how many marks you give me.”
PM Modi tweeted last year ahead to the event that “I am extremely eager to interact with young friends, teachers and parents on the need to appear for exams with a smile, without any stress,”
Around the same time last year, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had launched ‘Exam Warriors’, a book written by the PM. The book is meant for students to help them overcome exam fear and insecurities. It was published by Penguin India and consist 208 pages. It has also been published in many Indian languages like Marathi, Telugu Urdu and Odiya.
