JEE Main 2021 Counselling will start once the exams will be over. The Counselling Schedule for Admission in 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 20 IIITs, ISM and 18 GFTIs will be released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), it will conduct the counselling for all 92 Participating Institutes. Moreover, counselling will be available for the candidates who appeared for JEE Main 2021. Hence, the JEE Main appearing candidates can register for seat allotment in the participating institutes. And, also attend the JEE Main Counselling process.

- Online Registration Process
- Online Choice Filling and Locking done by applicants.
- Allotment of seat
- Fee Submission
- Reporting to Allotted Center (RC) for Each Institute
- Final Reporting to the Allotted Institute.
Online Registration
- First of all, Candidates need to register online and perform the choice filling for preferred Institutes and branches.
- Then the applicant needs to enter his/her JEE Main 2021 Roll Number and password. Also, students must check the personal details after logging in. Moreover, It is mandatory to change the password for each and every candidate.
Selection of Choice (Institute and Branch)
- Now, the Candidates must fill the choices of Institutes and branches in decreasing order i.e., starting with the most preferred choice. And, the applicants can fill as many choices as possible.
- After filling of choice the next step is Locking of choice. And, If a candidate did not perform choice locking, in that case, the system will save last filled choice by default. And, the time window for choice locking will expire.
Allotment of Seat
- A total of 7 rounds will be carried out for seat allotment for the participating institutes of JEE Main. And, For the subsequent rounds, a candidate requires a filling option for ‘freeze’, ‘slide’ or ‘float’ for the choice of the academic program offered by JEE Main 2021 Participating Institutes.
Counselling Fee Payment
- There is no fee for Registration and Choice filling and locking for the candidates. However, candidates must pay a seat acceptance fee, if they accept the seat allotted to them. Moreover, the seat acceptance fee for the Unreserved/General category is Rs.45,000. However, the reserved category applicants have to pay Rs.20,000 as the seat acceptance fee.
- Candidates can pay the seat acceptance fee either through e-challan at any branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) or by using SBI Internet banking facility.
Note: The fee mentioned above is for the previous year exam. Therefore, We will notify the exact fee amount as soon as a notification is available from the exam authority.
Reporting at the Allotted Reporting Centre for each Institute
- After the successful payment of the seat acceptance fee, the candidates need to report at the allotted reporting centres for document verification.
- And, the applicants need to report only at the reporting centre of the institute in which the seat allotment happened. Furthermore, It is likely that allotment of the seat can change from NIT + system to an IIT/ISM and vice versa. In such a case, the candidates need to report at the reporting centre of the changed Institute. Hence, if candidates seat allotment changed from IIT to NIT + system must report to NIT + system reporting centre and vice versa. Moreover, If a candidate fails to appear at the changed institute’s Reporting venue then it will lead to the rejection of the candidature.
Final Reporting at the Allotted Institute
After the completion of the 7th round, the candidates need to report at the final allotted Institute. And, complete the admission procedure in all respect.
- Seat Withdrawal:
If a candidate wants to opt-out of seat allotment process then he/she will need to report to the reporting centre. Also, the applicants must report before the seventh round of seat allotment.

Required Documents At the Reporting Centre for JEE Main 2021 Counselling
Each Applicant needs to bring the following original certificates and copies of self-attested Xerox to the allotted reporting venue for verification. And, the list of documents is given below:
- XIIth Marks sheet.
- 2 Passport Size Photographs.
- Seat Acceptance Fee Payslip.
- JEE Main Admit Card.
- Birth certificate or any other equivalent certificate.
- Name proof certificate(True Copy).
- Original Category certificate.
- Disability Certificate for PWD candidates
- Duly certified Medical Certificate in the prescribed format.
- Duly certified Declaration form in the given format.
- Foreign candidates need to produce a nationality certificate/ passport etc.

Finally, the applicants must report to the allotted institute with all the certificates and documents listed above.
Supernumerary Seats for Union Territories and the North Eastern States:
The following NITs are assigned to fill the Supernumerary seats for the Union Territories of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep islands and Dadra & Nagar Haveli:(Based on Previous year records)
- Andaman and Nicobar Islands: NIT Durgapur
- Daman and Diu: NIT Surat
- Dadra and Nagar Haveli: NIT Surat
- Lakshadweep: NIT Calicut
A separate round of seat allocation will be conducted for these Union Territories and the North East states. Moreover, the Centralised Seat Allotment Board for the North Eastern States and Union Territories (CSAB NEUT) will conduct the seat allocation for these seats. Also, the seat allotment will follow after the JoSAA Seat allocation process.
