The number of applicants appearing for Joint Entrance Exam (Main) has seen a decreased as compared to last year. This year, only 11.5 lakh candidates have filled the online exam form as compared to 12 lakh in 2017. Looking at past 5 years the number of aspirants start decreasing after 2015. The biggest number was in 2015 i.e 13 lakhs students appeared for Joint Entrance Examination (Main). After that every year there is a slight dip in the number of students appearing for JEE Main exam. One can say there is Major Drop in JEE Main Applicants this Year comparing to last 6 years.

Increase in Computer Based Test Applicants

Interestingly, the number of candidates opting for a computer-based test has increased to 2.25 lakh in comparison to 1.8 lakh in 2017. Also, the number of candidates those opting for the paper-pen mode decreased at 9.25 lakh as compared to 10.2 lakh in last year.

CBSE executive director (JAB) Rajbir Singh, in charge of the JEE Main, said: “There has been a steady rise in the number of students opting for a computer-based exam”.

JEE Main 2018 Exam Details

CBSE is conducting JEE Main as all India entrance test for engineering admission for 31 NITs, 23 IITs and 23 CFTIs. Also, many engineering institutions accept the JEE Main Score for admission into the first year of B.tech Programs. The JEE (Main) is also considered as the eligibility test for JEE (Advanced) for admissions. And this year, the advanced exam will only be conducted in computer-based test mode only. Since 2017, the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) does not give any weightage on Class 12th marks in the rank calculation.

JEE Main Paper 1 and Paper 2

JEE Main paper 1 is for aspirants who wants to take admission in B.Tech programmes at the premium institutes, while Paper 2 is for aspirants who want to pursue admission to B.Arch/B.Planning programmes.

JEE Main admit card 2018

JEE Main admit card 2018 will be published by CBSE on JEE Main Website and Link will be available here. The JEE Main hall ticket will be available tentatively from the second week of March, whereas offline exam will be conducted on 08 April and Online exam on 15-16 April 2018.
