Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Exam 2020
Every candidate has to check the eligibility criteria before applying for the application form. The candidate should come under or satisfy the eligibility criteria for the job. Below is given the eligibility criteria:
Nationality Criteria:
- Hold the nationality of India. Or,
- be a subject of Bhutan. Or,
- be a subject of Nepal. Or,
- be of Indian origin but migrated either from East African countries of Kenya, Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam. Or,
- Be among Tibetan refugees who came across the country in prior of the 1st January 1962 for permanent settling over here.
Age Criteria:
- Age norms for Geologist and Geophysicist and Chemist (Group ‘A’) in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines: 4
- Candidates’ date of birth should fall not before than 2nd January 1986 and not after than 1st January 1997.
- Age norms for For Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) (Group A) in Central Groundwater Board, Ministry of Water Resources:
- Candidates’ date of birth should fall not before than 2nd January 1983 and not after than 1st January 1997.
Is there any age relaxation for reserved category candidates?
- For Ex-servicemen category candidates: 5 Years
- For Scheduled Caste/Scheduled tribal: 5 years
- For OBC: 3 years
- For Deaf-mute, Blind and Orthopaedically disabled category applicants: 10 years

Chemists Group ‘A ‘: Educational norms for Chemists Group ‘A ‘ in Geological Survey of India: Candidates should hold a recognized M.Sc degree in Analytical Chemistry or Chemistry or Applied Chemistry.
Geophysicists Group ‘A’: Educational norms for Geophysicists Group ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India: Candidates should hold a recognized M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc Physics or M.Sc (Geophysics) degree.

Application Fee

Exam Pattern
- There will be two major parts of the question paper i.e. Part 1 and Part II respectively.
- Part 1 is a written test whereas; part II will be an Interview/Personality test.
