UPSC ISS Eligibility Criteria
Candidates can check the eligibility criteria and age limits of UPSC ISS Recruitment 2020 in the given below:
1. Nationality
A candidate must be either:
- a Citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, or
- a subject of Bhutan, or
- a Tibetan refugee who had arrived in India before 1 January 1962, planning to live permanently in India, or
- a person of Indian descent who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam with a permanent intention to settle in India.
Note: The applicants must be in possession of a certificate of eligibility issued by the Govt. of India for type (b), (c), (d), and (e).
2. Educational Qualification
For Indian Statistical Service (ISS):
The candidates must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subjects
OR
The candidates should hold a Master’s degree in Statistics / Mathematical Statistics / Applied Statistics from an accepted university or from a foreign university approved from time to time by the Central Government of India.
3. Age Limit
The candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August 2020 i.e he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1990 and not later than 1st August 1999.

UPSC ISS Recruitment 2020 Exam Pattern
Written Exam:
- UPSC ISS Exam will have 6 Papers in each of them.
- The questions papers in all the subjects will be of conventional (essay) type.
- Questions will be set in English and must be answered in English as well.
- Marks may be deducted if the handwriting is not easily understood. No marks will be given for superficial (slight) knowledge.
- The Objective Paper will have a negative marking of 0.33 for the incorrect answer.
