The final selection of the candidate for Junior Research Fellow is through all India examination followed by an interview. IIT Dhanbad takes candidates directly from M.Sc. Tech. and M.Sc. degree into Ph.D. program. Under this scheme, top 20% of M.Sc. Tech. /M.Sc. students of respective Departments with an OGPA of 8.5 or more, can apply for direct admission in Ph. D. program, with the limit, that each Department can have a maximum of 10 seats for all the courses offered by that Department taken together.
