IIT Palakkad Admission Process 2020 varies according to the course. IITPKD provides admission in B.Tech with 4 specializations at UG level. For eligible in B.Tech course candidate must have to complete their XII with 75% marks. Also, they must have a valid score in JEE Advanced based on which they have to attend the JoSAA counselling. Admission to M.Tech or MS and M.Sc is based on the GATE score and JAM score respectively. Admission in PhD is based on a Written Test and/or interview conducted by the Institute itself.

Candidate seeking admission in this course must have BE/B.Tech degree or Master’s degree in Science OR must qualify AMIE exams with a good academic record.
IIT Palakkad M.S by Research Selection Criteria
- Applicants are selected on the basis of their score in the GATE exam.
- Qualified candidates need to take the written test conducted by the institute.
- Candidates who will qualify the test will be called for an Interview.
- Thus, the overall selection of a candidate depends upon the GATE score, written test score and performance in the Interview round.

Eligibility criteria for admission in Ph.D. course at IITPKD varies according to the course which are listed below:
Engineering and Sciences
- Graduation degree in a relevant stream with a minimum CGPA of 8/10 or above OR
- M. Tech in a relevant course OR
- Master’s degree by Research in Engineering. & Technology OR
- M.Sc with good scores in the relevant branch
Humanities & Social Sciences and Philosophy
Candidates with a Master’s degree in relevant branch can apply for these two Ph.D. disciplines
Staff Members and Scholars
Such candidates must have ME/ M.Tech/M.Sc degree or any other Master’s degree with minimum two years of work experience in the relevant field.
IIT Palakkad Ph.D. Selection Criteria
- The institute conducts its written test for selecting students.
- However, candidates with valid score in GATE/NBHM/CSIR NET/UGC NET are exempted from the written test and are shortlisted based on their score in the entrance exams.
- Qualified candidates have to further appear in the Interview which helps the authority in making the final decision.
