Candidates applying for the AFCAT examination must ensure that they fulfil all the eligibility conditions for admission to the examination. Admission at each stage will be through the entrance exam and SSB test, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. Accepted DOB: Candidates should note that only Matriculation/Higher Secondary Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate DOB, on the date of submission of application, will be accepted by the IAF and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.
AFCAT (1) 2022 Educational Qualification Criteria

AFCAT Eligibility for Ground Duty (Non-Technical)
The eligibility criteria differ as per the departments, the same are listed below:
- Administration & Logistics: Graduate Degree (minnimum three years degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized university.
- Accounts: B.Com Degree (Minimum three years degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Education: MA/ MSc degree in English/ Statistics/Physics/ Mathematics/ Chemistry/ International relations/ International Studies/ Defence Studies/ Psychology/ Computer Science/ IT/ Management/ Mass Communication/ Journalism/ Public Relation or MBA/ MCA with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together.
- NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch): NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ certificate acquired on or after 01 January. Candidates should have passed the 10+2 level in Maths and Physics with a minimum of 60% marks each. Graduates with a minimum of three years degree course with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized University. (OR) BE/B Tech degree (four years course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent from a recognized University OR Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
- Meteorology: Post Graduate Degree in any Science stream/ Mathematics/ Statistics / Geography / Computer Applications/Environmental Science/ Applied Physics/ Oceanography / Meteorology /Agricultural Meteorology/Ecology & Environment /Geophysics/Environmental Biology with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were studied at Graduation Level with a minimum of 55% marks in each).
AFCAT Physical & Medical Fitness Criteria

- According to the Indian Air Force (IAF), physical & medical requirements are the same for all branches except aircrew in which the parameters are parameters for visual acuity, anthropometry, and certain other physical standards are precise.

Instruction For AFCAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria
Those candidates who have qualified LLB and integrated/ dual degree candidates may get an opportunity to be employed on the legal duties of the IAF (after commissioning).
- Applicants who are in the final year course and are yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply provided the applicant would not have any present backlog and would have a score of a minimum of 60% marks up to the last semester.
- They are required to submit proof of passing the Degree Examination by 30 May 2022 and no request for extending this date will be entertained on the grounds like delay in declaration of results, late conduct of minimum qualifying University examination or any other ground whatsoever.
- An aspirant who has failed the Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS)/ Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible to apply in Flying Branch.
- An applicant who was admitted to an earlier course at the National Defence Academy(NDA), Indian Military Academy(IMA), Air Force Academy, Indian Naval Academy(INA), Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai and Officer’s Training Academy Gaya but was removed on grounds of indiscipline are ineligible to apply.
- An applicant who is debarred by the Ministry of Defence from holding any type of commission in the Defence Services shall not be eligible for AFCAT and if admitted, their candidature will be cancelled.
