- The applicant must have received a minimum of 50 percent in class XII.
- For individuals who have finished their Intermediate through the CBSE board, the top five topics will be taken into account while computing marks.
- For those who come from separate boards, just one language and the top four topics will be taken into account for computing marks.
- For applicants from the reserved categories, there is a 5% mark reduction.
- Applicants must be at least 24 years old, while SC/ ST/ PwD applicants must be at least 29 years old.

Background in Education:
- Candidates must have passed the CBSE class 12th exam or a similar exam from another recognised board.
- Candidates must have received at least 50% of their grade point average in 12th grade.
- There is, however, a means to relax: candidates who fall under the SC, ST, or PwD categories are given a 5% relaxation. As a result, applicants in the aforementioned categories must have an aggregate score of at least 45 percent to be considered.

- Those interested in teaching Urdu/Punjabi in the relevant institutes, i.e. DIET-Karkardooma for Punjabi (20 seats) and DIET Darya for Urdu (20 seats), must have taken Urdu/Punjabi in secondary and senior secondary school. Only the government DIET is subject to this restriction.
Requirements for age:
- A applicant must be under the age of 24 on September 30th, 2022.
Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates would be given a 5-year age relaxation.
Physical Requirements
- Both the physical and mental health of the individual must be in good operating order. They must be free of any communicable disease that might affect their studies, and they must be able to participate in outdoor activities as a teacher.
- Candidates must also provide a proof of physical fitness from an accredited MBBS programme.
