• The Candidates have to fill an application form through the official website, hpuniv.ac.in.
• The candidates are advised to read the eligibility criteria for the exam before applying.
• Before filling the application form, the candidates have to upload the scanned images having a maximum size of 100kb.
• The candidates have to log in with their email id and keep it till the completion of the full admission process.
• The candidate must give a correct mobile number in basic details. If you don’t have a mobile number, please enter your guardian’s mobile number for any further information in this regard.
• The application fees must be submitted through Online mode and are non- refundable.
• It is important to note that the generation of the confirmation page confirms the correctness and final submission of the application form. If the confirmation page has not been generated, this means that the application has not been submitted successfully.

Candidates have to pay a certain amount of fees after completing the full application form process. The application form is considered by the authorities only after the payment of the application fee. The category-wise application fees are given below.

HPU Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Exam 2022 Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates can check the eligibility standard required for Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing from the below-mentioned points.

• Qualification: Candidate must have qualified 10+2 or any equivalent examination from the recognized board with at least 40% aggregate marks and 35% is the minimum for SC/ST/OBC candidates. 
• Marks: Candidate must have secured at least 50% marks in General Nursing & Midwifery.
• Registration: The candidate must have registered as a Nurse/Midwife (RN/RM) with the state of Himachal Pradesh Nurses Registration Council, Shimla within 3 months from the time of counselling.

• In-service quota seats are to be filled by the in-service regularly appointed Nursing Cadre candidates of Govt. of H.P.
• The candidates must have completed at least five (5) years of service on the last date of submission of the application form.
• The candidate should not have attained the maximum of 50 years of age as of 31st December 2022.

• The Bonafide Himachali/Domicile candidates/Children of H.P. Govt. employees and employees of Autonomous Bodies wholly or partially financed by the Himachal Pradesh Government, who have done their GNM course from GNM Schools/Institutions anywhere in India duly recognized by the Indian Nursing Council/H.P. State Nurses Registration Councillor,
• Candidate must be GNM trained from the recognized Govt./Private GNM Schools/Institutions situated in the State of Himachal Pradesh.
• The age of the candidate should be between 17 to 35 years as on 31 December 2022.

The admission to the Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course shall be on the basis of Entrance Test to be conducted by the Himachal Pradesh University. The examination shall consist of one written paper only in the subjects mentioned hereunder in accordance with the syllabi of GNM studies.

• Duration: The examination is for 2 hours (120 minutes)
• Exam mode: Offline mode
• Medium of question paper: The question paper comes in English mode only. 
• A number of questions: There are a total number of 150 questions. 
• Type of questions: The exam consists of multiple-choice questions. 
• Marking Scheme: +1 marks for the correct answer and no negative marking.

Following preparation tips will help the candidates to score good marks and hence qualify this entrance exam. The preparation tips are as follows:

• Candidates must be regular in their studies.
• Only books by renowned authors and reliable study material must be referred for preparing for the exam.
• Prepare short notes for all the topics. This will help to revise all the topics quickly before few days of the exam.
• Previous year question papers and multiple-choice questions from all the available sample papers must be practised.

The admit card releases on the official website of the University.

• Candidates can download it using their user ID and password which gets generated at the time of filling the application form.
• The hard copy of the admit card is to be carried by the candidates to the exam hall in the examination day.
• Without the admit card, entry to the centres will not be permitted. It carries the candidate’s details, exam centre information and the date and time of the exam.

HPU releases the answer key after the exam is conducted. Answer key contains the correct answers to the questions that were asked in the exam.

• It is released on the official website in pdf format.
• With the help of the answer key, the candidate can calculate their raw score and estimate their chances of qualifying for the exam. 
• If a candidate is not satisfied with any of the answers given in the key then she can raise the challenge with documentary proof to the Assistant Registrar H.P. University, Shimla in person or through Fax within a stipulated time or through the email id within the set period. 
• In case a question has more than one correct answer, the committee will indicate the same in its report and where if no answer is correct, recommendations to this effect will also be made by the committee. The committee will also point out the printing error in questions.

The selection of the candidates for Post -Basic B.Sc. Nursing course will be on the basis of the merit list of the entrance test.

• The minimum marks required for the selection will be 40% for candidates belonging to the General category, 30% for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/OBC and 35% for General-Physical Handicapped categories candidates.
• The Combined, as well as Group/Category-wise merit list based on the marks of the Entrance Test of all qualified candidates, shall be notified and displayed on the notice board of the University and also on the University website.
• It is important to note that merely the name in the merit list will not confirm the candidate's admission. Candidates have to then opt for a counselling session.

When two or more candidates receive the same rank or merit, then tie-breaking criteria are followed to resolve the selection process.  Then
their inter-se merit for admission to the course shall be determined on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in order of Subject-wise Sections of the entrance test i.e.

• Fundamentals of Nursing,
• Medical-surgical Nursing
• Psychiatric Nursing,
• Pediatrics Nursing,
• Midwifery & Gynecology and
•  Community Health Nursing.

HPU Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Exam 2022 Counselling Procedure

After the declaration of results, candidates are advised to participate in the Counselling process. The counselling will be held on 2-3 rounds. The counselling shall be held through the Physical presence of the candidates. The counselling procedure is mandatory for all students. There will be a counselling system to allot the available seats in order of merit cum-choice of the colleges. The candidates will not send any separate call letter or SMS regarding the counselling sessions. The candidates must bring the following documents in original and photocopied form along with them at the time of Counselling.
