MCAT Exam Scoring Scale

Student will obtain five scores after taking the MCAT exam: one for each of the four sections and one overall score.

• The four sections—Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills, Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior, Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems, and Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems—each receive a score between 118 and 132, with 125 serving as the midpoint. Test takers will receive scores for each of the four test sections.
• The sum of the scores from the four components is the overall score. The overall rating ranges from 472 to 528. The middle point is 500.

What conditions must be met before taking the MCAT test?

Anyone who wishes to submit an application to a health professional school is eligible to take the MCAT; there are no particular requirements for doing so.

NOTE: Candidates who already hold an MBBS degree or are enrolled in an MBBS programme are eligible to take the MCAT exam without further permission.

Except as stated provided herein, the standard start time is 8:00 a.m. every day. Scores are made available to the public at 5:00 p.m. ET on the day results are scheduled to be released.

• All scheduling deadlines are at 11:59 p.m. local test centre time on the day of the deadline.
• The final day to create, modify, or cancel a reservation is the 10-day cutoff point. Additionally, it is the last day to modify registration information such name, address, consents, etc.

Note: Two testing sessions are scheduled for August 26, September 2, and September 9. Exams will begin each day at 7:30 am and 3 pm.

How long are MCAT results good for?

In general, medical schools accept test results from two to three years ago. If you've already taken the test, we urge you to check the Medical Institution Admission Requirements to make sure the requirements for each institution you want to apply to are still valid.

• However, if you believe a scoring error has occurred, you can request a rescore. Quality control measures are in place to ensure the accuracy of scores and score reporting.
• The quickest, most reliable, and safest way to submit a rescore request is through the MCAT® Document Uploader, which is accessible through the MCAT Scheduling and Registration System (credit card payments only).

Your test results are promptly forwarded to AMCAS. This suggests that you don't have to manually input your test results into your application, but it also suggests that you can't retain any of your AMCAS test results.

Submitting Scores to Institutions Other Than AMCAS

Test results can be sent in one of two methods to certain organisations or other centralised application services (such AACOMAS, CASPA, SOPHAS, etc.):

either electronically through the Score Reporting System or by mailing a copy of your official score report.
