UPSC IES ISSE 2023 Syllabus is set by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The UPSC IES ISSE examination will be conducted in the offline mode. UPSC IES ISSE (Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service) 2023 examination will be conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). This exam is the National Level Entrance Test which is organised to recruit applicants for the post in the central government department of the service of the economist and statistical profession.     • General knowledge (GK) and knowledge of current events and daily life observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any technical subjects.

Notes: 
  • The Statistics I & II will be of Objective Type Questions (80 questions with maximum marks of 200 in each paper) to be attempted in 120 minutes (2 Hours). 
  • The Statistics III & IV will be of Descriptive Type having Long Answer and Comprehension problem questions (50%) and Short Answer/ Small Problems Questions (50%).
  • At least one Short Answer and One Long Answer Question from each section are compulsory for all the applicants.
  • In Statistics-IV, the equal number of questions from all the sub-sections in paper will be of 50% weightage and applicants have to choose any two sub-sections and answer. 

UPSC IES ISS 2023 Exam Pattern

  • Mode of exam: Offline mode (Pen and Paper Test) on OMR sheets
  • Total Paper: There will be a total of 6 papers for UPSC IES and ISS exam each.
  • Duration: Total 3 Hours (180 mins)for each paper.
  • Type of question: MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions), Descriptive Type.
    • Marking Scheme: +1 For each right answer and -1/3 for each wrong answer and 0 for every unanswered question.
