Anna University PhD Admission 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates can check the general & educational eligibility required for the PhD admission:

• One should hold a Master's Degree of this University or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in the fields of study.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Technology or any other equivalent qualification thereto in the fields of study with a minimum of 15 years of Research & Development experience in National Research Laboratories / PSUs and with a minimum of three publications in referred impact factor journals or two approved international patents in the last five years.
• With a minimum of 55% marks or 5.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale for unreserved categories in the qualifying examination (in case of SC/ST/ Differently –Abled candidates, 50% marks or CGPA of 5.0 on a 10 point scale).

Anna University PhD Admission 2020 Selection Process

The candidates are selected based on the performance in written test, Interview and the marks scored in the PG qualifying degree.

• The applications having the consent of recognized supervisor from the department of Anna University, Chennai is only considered for admission to PhD programmes.
• The preliminary scrutiny will be done by the Centre for Research and then the candidates will be shortlisted as per norms.
• Those who get shortlisted are then called for written test (to be conducted in the Anna University-Main Campus, Chennai only) by the Director. 
• The list of candidates who have qualified in the written test will be notified on the official website of the university and will be called for interview at the venue decided by the university itself.

• The aspirants pursuing under this category in any of the colleges of Anna University have to attain the classes regularly.
• If a candidate is working in the projects undertaken from State/Central/Quasi-Government and totally funded through the projects in the University Colleges of Engineering, University Campuses, University Departments, Govt./Govt. Aided/Self-financing Engineering Colleges within Tamil Nadu & the Principal Co-ordinator/Investigator of such projects are recognized Supervisor of Anna University, Chennai, then they should register for research programme under such Supervisor only.
• Employed candidates shall be sponsored by their employer and shall avail study leave for the minimum duration of the programme and shall produce relieving order obtained from their employer to join the research programme.
• AICTE sponsored candidates under Quality Improvement Programme for teachers of Engineering Colleges and NDF who satisfy the eligibility conditions shall be eligible only in the specializations as notified in the AICTE guidelines.
• Those who are selected at National level Fellowship programmes or by any recognized bodies and who satisfy the eligibility conditions as per the regulations can also apply under this category.
• Foreign Nationals are also eligible to apply as per the norms of the university. 

Anna University Part-Time Admission 2020

• Full-time teachers of University Colleges /University Departments/ Colleges affiliated to the University and Government /Government aided/Self-financing Polytechnic Colleges within Tamil Nadu.
• Candidates working in Research & Development centres which are recognized as a research centre by Anna University to do collaborative research work and sponsored by the respective employer.
