Chandigarh University (CU) is a private university located more than 25 kilometers away from Chandigarh, in the village of Gharuan, Mohali district, Punjab, India. CU was founded in the year of 2012. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and also a member of the International Association of Universities (IAU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). In September 2019, it was accredited with an A+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). 

The university offers various Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programmes in several disciplines in the fields of engineering, management, computing, cognitive sciences, education, animation and multimedia, tourism, pharma sciences, biotechnology, architecture, commerce, legal studies, agricultural science, media studies, liberal arts, and basic sciences.  Chandigarh University conducts an entrance test i.e CUCET (Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test) to offer admission in CU followed by counselling. For certain courses, admission is also done based on other entrance test scores like JEE Main, NATA, GATE, CSIR-UGC NET, CAT, etc.

The university offers B.E & B.Arch courses for the duration of four years and five years respectively. The eligibility criteria for admission in Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) and Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) is given hereby:

  • Candidates must have passed the 10+2 level examination with 55% marks (45% marks for SC/ST candidates) from a recognized university for B.E admission.

How to Apply for Ph.D. at Chandigarh University?

For admission in the Ph.D. programme, candidates must follow the below-given steps:

  1. Candidates need to register themselves online.
  2. Payment of a requisite fee of Rs. 1100/- through Net Banking/ Debit/ Credit Card or by E-Challan payable in any SBI branch.
  3. Fill all the details and download the Ph.D. application form.
  4. Paste the recent colour passport size photograph followed by signature at the designated place.
  5. Attach the required documents along with the duly filled application form.

Chandigarh University Application Process 2023

The application form for admission in Chandigarh University has been started and the last date for the same is 31 March 2023. The application form for CUCET can be filled online as well as offline mode. The registration process for both the modes is given below:

For Online Mode
  • Go to the official website of CUCET examination.
  • Need to enter the name, email address, mobile number, city, interested discipline and program and date of birth. After entering the information, click on the "Register Now" tab.
  • After that, a system-generated User ID and Password will be sent to the registered mobile number and email of the candidates.
  • Now, students have to re-login using these credentials and enter the personal profile, academic details etc. in the application form.
  • Payment of application fee through online mode via Debit/ Credit card.
  • At last, submit the application form and take the printout of the same for future reference. 
For Offline Mode
  • Candidates can either download the application form from the official website OR directly buy the application form from the campus by paying the fee in cash of Rs. 1000/-.

Chandigarh University Scholarship programmes are designed to recognise and reward exceptional students by giving financial assistance.

Chandigarh University has a number of scholarships available for both undergraduate and graduate students. On a mandatory point, candidates must enrol, qualify, and achieve good scores in CUCET to be eligible for any type of scholarship offered. COVID-19 Warriors Scholarship Scheme

COVID-19 fighters are daily super-heroes fulfilling Nation Duty, thus it is our responsibility to look after their children's futures as a real expression of gratitude for their services offered. For the wards of COVID-19 Warriors, Chandigarh University has announced a 10% reservation of seats in all UG and PG programmes available on campus.

The COVID-19 Warriors Scholarship Scheme will award scholarships worth INR 5 crores to the wards of such national heroes who wish to enrol in any of Chandigarh University's majors. Students accepted under this scheme will receive a 10% fee reduction for the duration of their education.

Who is eligible for the benefit?

The Scheme is available to the wards of the following categories of workers (COVID-19 Warriors):

  • The COVID-19 Warriors Scholarship Scheme offers advantages on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must complete an online special application form available from all University Admission Counsellors, as well as submit a copy of their ID cards or a copy of their employer's certificate. Now is the time to apply.

Scholarships based on CUCET Score

Through CUCET 2021, Chandigarh University is awarding academic scholarships worth INR 33 crores to deserving students. The award will be available to students enrolled in the University's more than 135 undergraduate and graduate programmes, with meritorious applicants receiving scholarships worth up to 100% of their tuition expenses based on their CUCET-2021 scores. The entrance test would be required for students seeking admission to Engineering, Pharmacy, MBA, 5 Years Integrated Under-Graduate Law Programs, and Agriculture, as well as academic scholarships for all of Chandigarh University's 135 undergraduate and graduate programmes." Students can apply for CUCET-2021 both online and offline, with applications available at the university's website and regional locations in 21 states and territories.

Term and Conditions
  • Only the students' performance certificates from the previous two years will be examined.
  • Uniform charge, examination fee, security fee, C.U. fest fee, and fresher party fee are all included in the total fee concession.
  • Every 45 days, evaluation trials will be conducted.
  • Only 2% of the total seats in each course will be offered for sports admission in general sports admission for the 'B' and 'C' Category.
  • Admission will be prioritised for individual games.
  • Players' attendance at training camp will be counted, and a minimum of 90% attendance is required.

The scholarship will be awarded based on the following criteria:

  • Performance Trials.
  • Original certificates related to sports achievements required for verification.

Important Note

The applicant must maintain a least 7.5 CGPA with no E (Exposed), F (Poor), or I (Incomplete) grades in order to renew the above-mentioned Scholarships. If a situation like this happens, the scholarship process will be halted and ended.

Other Concessions 

  • Old Student Concession Policy to Promote Higher Education

Students from the entire CGC group who seek admission to CU after completing a qualifying degree or diploma will receive a scholarship equal to 10% of the annual price for the duration of the course.

  • Single Girl Child Concession

For the duration of the course, CU offers a 10% discount on the annual cost to single girl children.

  • Teacher’s Ward Concession

For the duration of the course, CU offers a 10% discount on the annual tuition to the wards of professors. (Teachers from government or government-recognized schools, colleges, or universities) as long as they have at least one year of regular service.

  • Sibling Concession

The University gives a 10% yearly fee reduction to one of the siblings enrolled in any CU institute, as long as both siblings are enrolled in the university.

  • Concession to Girl Sibling

For the duration of the course, CU offers both female siblings a 10% discount on the annual price.

  • For Orphan Candidates

A 20% discount will be offered, and in the case of single parents, a 10% discount is currently in effect.

  • Alumni Scholarship

The true brother/sister/spouse/Wards of alumni students of this university will also be eligible for a 10% discount.

  • Condition for Continuation of Other Concession:

Students admitted under any of the above-mentioned schemes who pass the normal semester exam on the first attempt (with no "E," "F," "I," or "Not Qualified" grades) are eligible to continue receiving the concession.

Scholarship Scheme for Wards of Defence Personnel

CU has created a Reservation cum Fee Waiver Scheme for Defence Personnel, wards, and their spouses as a gesture of respect and salute to our Defence personnel who are always there to protect our borders and our lives. This programme is also a component of our social duty to underserved communities.

  • Concession under Armed Forces Educational Welfare Scheme (AFEWS) for Wards/Spouse of Defence Personnels

Wards and spouses of various types of Defense personnel admitted under the same system will also be eligible for a free semester of tuition.

The wards and wives of Defence Martyrs, as well as their immediate dependent relatives, would be given 5% of seats in all programmes at Chandigarh University.

Early Bird Scholarship For PG Students 

Graduate students will be eligible for the scholarship for admission to all Master's level programmes at Chandigarh University (except MBA) for the 2021-22 session if they meet the following criteria:

  • Students who have finished a Bachelor's degree from Chandigarh University will be eligible for a 15% scholarship.
  • Students with a Bachelor's degree from another university are eligible for a 10% scholarship.
