FRI Dehradun provides an M.Sc program with several specializations for 2 years. The eligibility criteria is that the students must have done Bachelor's Degree with relevant discipline with not less than 55% marks. The selection criteria is based on the entrance test conducted by FRI Dehradun. The admission committee will shortlist the candidates for further counselling rounds based on their entrance score. Candidates have to score a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST) marks in the Entrance Test to be eligible for final admission. The other details can be found below:

FRI Dehradun provides PhD program in various specializations. The eligibility criteria is that the candidates must have passed Master's Degree. The selection criteria is based on the candidate's performance in the entrance test conducted by FRI Dehradun followed by interview. The selection is also based on UGC NET exams. University reserves 15 percent of the total available seats for scheduled castes and seven and 7.5 percent for scheduled tribes candidate subject to their being otherwise suitable. These reservations can not be changed i.e. if any seats reserved for scheduled tribes candidates remains vacant then these can be filled up from among suitable scheduled castes candidates within the concerned programme. The quota fixed for SC/ST candidates cannot be de-reserved even if none of the scheduled caste/ tribe candidates qualify for admission in a particular course. The reservation to OBC is being provided as per the policy of the Govt. of India.
Admission Committee along with the Director for each course will release the final list of candidates to be admitted to different courses on the basis of the seats allotted to each course and the results will be notified after that. The notification shall be displayed on the Notice Board of the FRI (Deemed) University and the individual candidates would be informed about results through the post.
The notification announcing the names of the selected candidates for each course consists of the following two parts.
The seats will first be offered to the qualified candidates in order of merit unto the number of seats available in each course. The names of the remaining qualified candidates in the merit list shall be kept in the waiting list in the order of merit.
