At the postgraduate level, Gauhati University offers admission to the B.Ed programme. The minimal requirement for admission is a bachelor's or master's degree with a grade point average of 50 percent (45 percent for reserved categories). Admission is granted on a case-by-case basis.
GUBEDCET is a two-hour paper with 100 multiple-choice questions. The marks achieved in 10+2 and Graduation are given 30% weightage in final admission, whereas the GUBEDCET score is given 70% weightage.

Gauhati University's Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology offers B.Tech in four areas (GUIST). To apply, you must have completed 10+2 (PCM/B) with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised board. Candidates are admitted based on their performance in the Assam CEE. Selection is dependent on performance in a university-sponsored admission examination, the Gauhati University Research Eligibility Test (GU-RET). The test is divided into two parts, the first of which assesses general aptitude, computer skills, and reasoning ability, and the second of which assesses subject-specific knowledge.
The Central Application Process will be used to offer admission to Ph.D. and M.Phil. programmes (CAP). The entrance exam will be administered in a multiple-choice format and will include the following sections:

In 1998, the Graduate Institute of Distance and Open Learning (GU IDOL) was founded as the Post Graduate Correspondence School (PGCS). In various subjects, GU IDOL provides 4 UG programmes, 16 PG courses, 8 PGD courses, and 2 Certificate Courses.
