Admissions to all the UG and PG programs at the IMU Campuses and its Affiliated Institutes is done through the Common Entrance Test (CET). The Common Entrance Tests are conducted online by the university for shortlisting students to various courses:
- Common CET for UG programs(except BBA)
- CET for MBA programs
- CET for M.Tech program
Candidates who wish to apply can register themselves online by filling the application form. They must submit it along with the application fee of INR 1000 for General/OBC and INR 700 for SC/ST candidates.

IMU Chennai Admission 2023 B.Tech, B.Sc, BBA Courses
The Indian Maritime University offers B.Tech and B.Sc programmes in various specializations to the students who want to pursue their careers in the field of marine engineering and science. For admission to B.Sc and B.Tech courses, the candidates should have passed Class 12 with minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics have taken together. Eligible candidates are required to appear in the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the university.
Candidates seeking admission to B.Sc and B.Tech courses should register online through the admission portal available at the official website of the university in order to appear for the Common Entrance Test (CET) is Rs 1000 for General candidates and Rs 700 for SC/ST candidates.
The university offers admission in Lateral Entry into the Second year of B.Tech (Marine Engineering). Candidates with Diploma in Marine/Mechanical Engineering with at least 60% marks overall are eligible to apply for lateral entry admission. For admission to the BBA program, the candidate must have completed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board of education. In case of BBA (Logistic, Retailing and E-Commerce), CET will not be conducted by the university.

How to Apply for UG Course admission at IMU Chennai?
- Visit the IMU Chennai official website.
- To register first time, click on ‘New User’.
- Fill in the Sign-Up form with all the required details.
- Upon submission, a unique User Id and Password will be generated and sent to the registered Email Id and Mobile No.
- Log in as Registered Candidate using the User Id and Password.
- Enter Personal Details, Academic Details and Upload Photo, Signature and Documents wherever required.

IMU Chennai offers Master of Science in Commercial Shipping & Logistics. Candidates seeking admission to M.Sc must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum 50% marks aggregate. IMU also offers the M.Tech program in selected specializations through its Kolkata and Visakhapatnam campuses. IMU Chennai Campus
Indian Maritime University - Chennai Campus, previously known as National Maritime Academy campus is located on a 20-acre scenic beachfront property on the outskirts of Chennai, a bustling cosmopolitan city. The sprawling campus houses the academic block, hostel, residential and re-credential facilities. It has modern facilities to conduct training programmes for both port and marine personnel.
The hostel complex can accommodate 250 residents. Residents can get their physical workouts with Outdoor/Indoor games and a swimming pool. Banking and communication facilities are provided to meet the needs of the students.
