JMI or Jamia Millia Islamia University was established on 29 October 1920 in Jamia Nagar, New Delhi. It is a public central university recognised in 1988 by the parliament under the Jamia Millia Islamia Act number 59 of 1988 and was originally formulated in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. It has received the status of a national institution that offers education and Indian nationalism to all community candidates. The university is accredited by the UGC, NAAC and AIU. Jamia has centres of learning and research, like the Anwar Jamal Kidwai Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC), Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Centre for Theoretical Physics and the Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Academy of Third World Studies (ATWS). It offers various research programs with undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

  • UGC/ CSIR (JRF)/ GATE/ SLET or M.Phil passed candidates are exempted from Jamia PhD Entrance Test. Teacher Fellowship holders are also exempted from the test.
  • JMI PhD Entrance Test: It is conducted in English medium except for Language subjects. Students have to pass both section A and B in order to be shortlisted for Interview.
  • There will be two papers in the entrance exam and all have to qualify both the papers to get admission.
