KSLU or Karnataka State Law University was established in the year 2009 by the Karnataka government as a state university in Navanagar, Hubli. It covers an area of 55 acres of land. It has an affiliation with the UGC( University Grants Commission). Nearly, 92 Karnataka law colleges are affiliated with it. The university offers various undergraduate and postgraduate law courses in subjects such as Constitutional Law, Business and Trade Law, Intellectual Property Rights, Criminal Law, and International Law. At present KSLU offers the 3 years LL.B. course, 5 years B.A., LL.B., B.B.A., LL.B. and B.A., LL.B., (Hon's) B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) integrated programmes and LL.M. programme apart from certificate and P.G.Diploma courses.

The university offers LL.B., B.A.,+LL.B., B.B.A.+ LL.B., LL.B., (Hon's) B.B.A.+ LL.B. (Hons.) integrated programmes LL.M & Diploma programs. Check the details of all below in the given table:

  • Seeking aspirants must have passed Graduation in any discipline with a minimum of 45% (44.5% and above 45%) of the total marks in the case of general category applicants and 40% of total marks in SC and ST applicants. 
  • Age limit-maximum age must not be more than 30 years for open category candidates & for  SC, ST, and Other Backward Communities must not be more than 35 years as on 01 June 2023.

The general category should have secured 40% (39.5% and above) & SC/ST candidates - 45% (44.5% and above 45%) of the qualified examination. To be eligible for admission in the 5-year BA, LL.B. program, an applicant should have passed in any of the following with minimum marks given above.

  • A candidate should hold a certificate of SSC or XII or equivalent (11 + 1, 'A' Level Senior Secondary Leaving Certificate Course).

OR

  • Applicants should have obtained +2 Higher Secondary Pass Certificate or First Degree Certificate after the distance or correspondence method.
  • Age Limit - General category candidates should not be less than 20 years and 22 years in the case of SC, ST, and other backward communities as on 01 June 2023.

An applicant who has graduated in law from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State Legislature or an equivalent national institution recognized as a Deemed to be University or foreign University recognized as equivalent to the Indian University with the minimum aggregate 45% for general category applicants and 40% in case of SC and ST applicants are eligible to apply.

Applicants who have obtained 10+2 or graduation or post-graduation through the open Universities system directly without any basic qualification are not eligible for admission to any of the Integrated courses.

The application forms are made available in both modes online and offline. Steps to apply for admission are given below:

  • For Online submission of the form
    • Visit the official website of the university. 
    • Find the link to apply for admission & click on the same.
    • Start with the registration by given basic details & submitting all.
    • Then login with the registered id and password.
    • Fill the form with all relevant & valid information & complete the form.
    • Upload the scanned copy of the mandatory documents.
    • Submit the requisite fee.
    • Get the printout of the form for all future references.
  • For Offline submission of the form
    • Applicants can buy the application form directly from the office of (KSLU) Karnataka State Law University.
    • Fill the form, affix the passport size photograph & send it to the university along with documents.
    • Form to be sent to the address

Offline - Through a demand draft drawn in the favour of the Finance officer of KSLU (Karnataka State Law University) or via a challan from any SBI branch.

Online - By credit/debit card and net banking.

Documents to be submitted along with the application form:
  • Caste/Tribe/Community/Disability Certificate(for SC/ST/OBC/PH).
  • Demand draft/Challan From for the programme fee.
  • SSLC/SSC/X Class Certificate/Marks Card for DOB verification
  • 5 recent passport-size photographs along with the application.
  • PUC 2nd year/HSC and Degree Qualification Examination mark card.
  • Acknowledgment Card duly stamped.
  • Eligibility certificate, if needed.
  • Income certificate(if fee concession is claimed).
  • Migration certificate
