Candidates applying for UG and PG programmes, need to register for CLAT with an application fee of Rs Rs 4,000 for General category candidates whereas, the application fee for reserved category candidates is Rs 3,500. Follow the below-mentioned steps for the CLAT registration:
The candidate can obtain the application form from the NLIU Offlicial Website or from the registrar’s office.
NLIU offers BA LLB in Undergraduate programme in 4 different specializations. The candidates must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board with at least 45% marks in aggregate. The final selection of seats will be based on the candidate's scores in CLAT examination. The candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in March or April are also eligible to apply for the entrance examination but must produce evidence of passing the examination at the time of admission. The duration for the course is 5 years.
Out of the 68 seats available for the general category candidates, 26 are reserved for the candidates belonging to the Madhya Pradesh State Domicile. 2 seats are also reserved for candidates from Jammu & Kashmir. 30% of seats are reserved for women and 3% for Persons with Disabilities. NRI students must be NRI/OCI/POI cardholders or be sponsored by a first or second-degree relation who is an NRI/OCI/POI card holder.

The University provides LLM, MCLIS and PG Diploma in the admissions for postgraduate courses. Candidates must have passed the qualifying exam with a minimum of 55% marks in case the candidate belongs to OBC/Unreserved/SAP (Specially Abled Persons) category and 50% marks in case the candidate belongs to SC or ST category. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in March or April are also eligible to apply for the entrance examination but must provide an evidence of passing their qualifying examination in their respective Universities during the time of the admission. Candidates must apply for CLAT online only. For applying for LLM candidate must register oneself and then proceed to fill the application form.
For admission in Master of Cyber Law and Informantion Security (MCLIS), the candidates must have passed their bachelor's with 50% aggregate from any recognised university. The duration of the programme is from 2 years and can extend to 4 years. The final selection of the candidates will be on the basis of entrance examibation conducted by the University. Candidates have to score the minimum scores to be eligible for admissions. PG Diploma offered in Cyber law is for a duration of months and candidates can apply for it once they complete their bachelor's in Law. For more details candidates can refer the table below.

The University offers a PhD programme in two different disciplines of Law. PhD is offered with a minimum course duration of three years and a maximum of six. The University conducts its own entrance test for admission to PhD programme. Any candidate, who has done master’s in the relevant discipline, can apply for the same. The final selection of students will be based on the entrance test scores and the performance in PI. If the candidates have already appeared for UGC NET are exempted from giving the entrance examination. Eligibility criteria for the same is given below:

The University takes in admissions for the LLM Programme on the basis of CLAT (Common Law Admission Test). The examination will be held in an offline mode for a duration of 2 hours. CLAT question paper will carry 150 marks based on the topics from English language, current affairs including general knowledge, legal reasoning, logical reasoning and Quantitative Techniques. For LLM paper candidates have to secure 40% at least out of 100 objective types of question to be qualified for Descriptive Paper. For every correct answer, candidates will be awarded 1 marks while 0.25 marks will be deducted for the wrong answer. The candidates have to fill the application form through Online mode and pay the required fees for the examination. Admit card would be received before the examination that is to be carried in the examination centre.
The University takes in admission for MCLIS and P.Hd through an entrance examination. The examination is conducted through Offline mode for a total of 100 marks. The candidates can fill the application form Online mode from the official website of the University for Rs. 1000 (General) and Rs. 500 for SC/ST. The candidate must have passed a bachelor's degree in Law with 50% aggregate. The examination will be conducted only in English. The syllabus would mainly consist of the topic from Aptitude test, General Awareness, Basic English proficiency and Basic of computers. The examinations has been postponed till further notification by the University.

National Law Institute University was established by Rashtriya Vidhi Sansthan Vishwavidhayala Adhiniyam by an act of Madhaya Pradesh state legislature 1997. The university is situated in a big acres of land and as an eco friendly environment and offers various facilities to the students such as 24*7 availability of internet , digital classrooms ampi theatre , bank , health care centres , guest houses , separate hostel for girls and boys etc . Apart from this many fests , seminars , workshops , sport fests are conducted to keep the students entertained and overall developement.
