PGIMER Entrance Examination

PGI Chandigarh invites applications twice in a year through countrywide advertisement in leading newspapers.

  • The advertisement appear usually during September/October and March/April for the January and July session respectively.
  • The entrance examination is held in December for the January session and in the June for July session.
MD/MS Courses: Candidates are assessed at a formal entrance-test on the basis of a suitably designed Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type theory paper. For candidates appearing for MD/MS entrance examination, the theory paper consists of 250 questions pertaining to subjects studied during the MBBS course viz. Medicine and Surgery (36 questions each), Obstetrics and Gynaecology (18 questions), Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, ENT and Applied Biochemistry (12 questions each), and six questions each in Anatomy, Forensic Medicine, Dermatology, Anaesthesia, Physiology, Psychiatry, Social & Preventive Medicine, Radio diagnosis and Radiotherapy. The examination is of three hours duration and there is negative marking. The assessment is objective and free of human bias and subjectivity. The result of the entrance examination is declared within 24 hours and is computerised.
DM/M.Ch Courses: Selection of candidates is made on the basis of suitably designed MCQ type theory paper. Theory examination is of one and half-hour duration. There is negative marking for wrong answers.
MDS Course: Selection of candidates is made on the basis of theory examination consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions. The duration of examination is one and half-hours.

How to fill the PGIMER, Chandigarh Application Form?

PGIMER  Admit Card

Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh 2023 admit card will be issued for candidates who will successfully submit the PGIMER 2023 application form. The authority will release the mock test for all the registered candidates before releasing the admit card. Candidates are expected to hold the admit card to enter the exam hall on the day of examination. The applicant will be allowed to obtain a valid photo ID proof while entering the examination hall . The admit card of PGIMER 2023 discloses necessary information such as examination centre , roll no , reporting time , name of the candidate etc. 

PGIMER Entrance Exam Result 

PGIMER 2023 exam result will be declared by the authorities in online mode. The result for PGIMER 2023 will be announced in the form of a scorecard that can be checked using the login ID, password and captcha code. Based on the scores of PGIMER 2023, the authority will also release the PGIMER merit list 2023 with the name of the candidates who are eligible to appear for the counselling process. PGIMER 2023 result for MD/MS courses will mention the names of candidates, roll number, total percentile & marks obtained, subject-wise scores, All India Rank (AIR) and other counselling details. Candidates who will secure the minimum required percentile as declared by the exam conducting authority will be considered to have cleared the entrance examination.

PGIMER Admission Counselling

The PGIMER 2023 counselling will be done in the offline mode . The students have to be present in person at the time of counselling . The procedure of counselling will be held in 4 rounds . The distribution of seats will be done on the basis of the ranks obtained by the candidates . The candidates will have to bring all the necessary documents along with them that will be verified there . the candidates will also be informed about the counselling procedure through emails .
