Scholarships
SAU is dedicated to providing financial aid to qualified and disadvantaged students. Students admitted to the University are eligible for the following scholarships:
- President’s Scholarships (For MA/M.Sc. and LLM students only): For each academic programme, two scholarships are awarded: one to the student who receives the highest score in the Entrance Test in the Indian list, and the other to the student who receives the highest score in the non-Indian list (South Asian nations other than India) who enrols. The scholarship is available for two years and will be renewed in the second year if the first year's performance is good.
- SAARC India Silver Jubilee Scholarships for Masters and PhD Programs: It is offered by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of the Government of India for Master's and Doctoral level studies to deserving students from one of the MEA's listed countries of eligibility: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, and Nepal. SAU has been awarded 75 SJS scholarships for Masters students by MEA. The MEA has established precise criteria for awarding these scholarships. Scholarships from SJS are awarded on the basis of merit.
- SAU Merit Scholarships (For MA/MSc and LLM students only): In each academic programme, two SAU Merit scholarships are available and will be given based on the following criteria:
- Indian: The top two students on the merit list will be awarded SAU merit scholarships, excluding President scholarship holders, based on their performance on the admission exam.
- Non-Indians: The top two students on the merit list will be awarded SAU merit scholarships, excluding holders of President and any SJS scholarships who eventually enrol at the University.
Soth Asian University supports financially Ph.D. alumni who are not eligible for any scholarships program.
SAU Facilities
- The current library covers a total size of 4500 square feet. Computer Science, Mathematics, Biotechnology, Sociology, Economics, Law, and International Relations are among the subjects covered by the library's texts and reference materials. The library holds around 14,500 titles and has a sitting capacity of 100 people. INFLBNET (Information and Library Network) and INDEST are both members of the SAU Library (Indian National Digital Library in Engineering Sciences and Technology)
- Hostels: Students who come to the University from outside Delhi are accommodated in shared hostels. There are currently three floors in the hostels, which house approximately 65 females and 190 boys.
- Medical Services: All admitted students are insured by the Medical Group Insurance Scheme for up to INR 1,50,000, with the University covering the entire price. Furthermore, the University has its own Health Centre, which has limited OPD services.

SAU reservation criteria for Master’s programs:
- 50% seats for Indian applicants
- 4% seats for applicants from Afghanistan, Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, & Sri Lanka
- 10% seats for applicants from Pakistan & Bangladesh
- 10% seats for applicants from outside the SAARC Region.
A separate merit list will be prepared for each country based on performance. If seats allocated to one country are not filled, they will be allocated to applicants from other countries.
