YENEPOYA University is an institute of higher education deemed to be a university that was established in 2008  under section 3A of the UGC Act 1956 in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. The university was ranked 92 among all Indian universities by the National Institutional Ranking Framework. Yenepoya University has a Centre for Ethics that conducts structured academic programs in bioethics such as Postgraduate Diploma in Bioethics & Medical Ethics, Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Ethics, a choice-based course in Environmental Ethics, and Intensive Summer Workshop in Ethics and Research for the training of ethics committee members and researchers.

Some of the admission points for Yenepoya University are:

  • For admission to undergraduate courses, candidates must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  • For admission to postgraduate courses, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized university.
  • Admission to the MBBS, BDS, B.Sc Nursing, and BPT courses are done on the basis of NEET-UG scores, while admission to MD, MS, MDS, and MPT courses are done on the basis of NEET-PG scores.
  • For MBA and M.Sc courses, admission is based on the scores obtained in the entrance examination conducted by the university followed by group discussion and personal interview.
  • For research courses such as M.Phil and Ph.D., candidates must have a master’s degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks from a recognized university. Admission is based on the entrance test conducted by the university followed by an interview.
  • The university also offers admission to international students under the NRI/PIO/Foreign quota. Such candidates must have completed 10+2 or an equivalent examination with the relevant subjects, and must have a valid passport.
  • The university also provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls with separate accommodation. Hostel admissions are done on a first-come-first-serve basis, and the allotment is based on the availability of rooms.

Yenepoya University MD, MS and MDS Admission 2023

The institution provides three-year PG programmes in Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS), and Master of Dental Surgery (MDS). All of the programmes are offered in a variety of specialities.

Candidates for the MD and MS programmes must have an MBBS degree from an MCI recognised institution/university, as well as a one-year internship and registration with the State Medical Council/Indian Medical Council. A BDS degree from any recognised institution / university is required to apply for the MDS programme.

  • Candidates seeking admission to MD and MS programmes must take the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET PG) administered by the National Board of Examinations.
  • Karnataka Examinations Authority will conduct admission counselling for dental courses.

Yenepoya University PG Admission 2023

The institution provides M.Ch, M.Sc.(Medical), MHA, MSW, and PG Diploma programmes with a variety of specialisations at the postgraduate level. The M.Ch and M.Sc degrees last three years, while the MHA and MSW programmes last two years. The PG Diploma is a one-year programme. Each course has ten seats reserved by the institution.

Candidates must hold a master's degree in general surgery or its equivalent from any accredited institution.

MCI has recognised this university as meeting the M.Ch. program's eligibility requirements. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline to apply for the PG Diploma programmes.

Regardless of UG or PG courses, candidates must pay Rs.1,000/- (DD) in favour of "Yenepoya University" payable at Mangalore.

  • What is the procedure for applying?
    Yenepoya University accepts applications through their official website, https://www.yenepoya.edu.in/apply-now.
  • For UG and PG programmes, the application cost is INR 500 and INR 1000, respectively.
  • Applicants must send copies of needed papers as well as a DD for the application cost to the institution after successfully registering through the website.
  • The All India Rank list, which is prepared by the appropriate entrance examination authority, is used to determine admission. The centralised Medical Counseling Committee (MCC), which is part of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), New Delhi, is in charge of consolidated online counselling and seat distribution.
  • Yenepoya University, as a Minority Institution, allots 50% of the total seats available to Minority Community applicants, as per Minority Regulations.
  • The following is the reservation policy: 85 percent are general/management, and 15% are non-resident aliens.
  • Please note that the state government fills 12/13 seats in MBBS.

In a rural setting, Yenepoya maintains a no-smoking, plastic-free, green campus with a focus on environmental activities such as water conservation, alternative energy sources, and so on. The campus covers an area of 152204.18 square metres and is equipped with sustainable building design, 24 classrooms, 46 laboratories, a central library, dorms, and athletic facilities.

  • Hostel: Because Yenepoya is a residential institution, students are required to live on campus.
  • The Yenepoya Central Library has a seating capacity of 480 people with a collection of over 39,000 books, 300 print journal subscriptions, and numerous e-resources.
  • Auditorium and Halls: A multipurpose indoor facility with a seating capacity of 550 people for a variety of activities; a mini-theatre with a digital playback system.
  • Indoor courts for basketball, volleyball, badminton, squash, table tennis, and other sports are available. A soccer field of international grade is available outside.
  • Students get access to a state-of-the-art fitness centre.

Yenepoya University Scholarship

According to the NIRF 2020 data, 16 students received full tuition fee reimbursement from the State/Central Government, while 62 students received full tuition fee reimbursement from Institution Funds.

According to the institution's Quality Audit Report,

  • Fee waivers totaling INR 8,28,99,750 have been granted to 131 students in various courses under the merit-cum-means quota.
  • 65 meritorious economically and financially disadvantaged students received sponsored seats for INR 1,84,85,500.
  • 34 students were granted fee waivers totaling INR 19,77,900 under the sports category for courses such as BHA, MLT, B.Sc. Nursing, BPT, and MPT.
