CTET Exam Pattern 2023 for Paper 1, 2 – The examination pattern for CTET 2023 will be designed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted with two unique levels – Primary level and Elementary level. Applicants who expect to teach class I to class V need to plan for Paper 1. The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to determine the eligibility of candidates to become teachers in primary and upper primary classes. CTET 2023 will have two papers - Paper-I and Paper-II, and both the papers will be conducted on the same day.

CTET 2023 Paper Pattern: Know the Format of Paper-I and Paper-II

Here is the paper pattern for CTET 2023:

Paper-I:

  • The duration of the exam is 2.5 hours.
  • The exam consists of 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • The total marks for the exam are 150 marks.
  • The questions will be based on the following topics: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I (compulsory), Language II (compulsory), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies.

Paper-II:

  • The duration of the exam is 2.5 hours.
  • The exam consists of 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • The total marks for the exam are 150 marks.
  • The questions will be based on the following topics: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I (compulsory), Language II (compulsory), Mathematics and Science (for Mathematics and Science teachers) OR Social Studies/Social Science (for Social Studies/Social Science teachers).


Both papers will have four alternatives for each question, and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. To qualify for CTET, candidates need to score a minimum of 60% marks in the exam. The certificate of CTET is valid for seven years from the date of declaration of result.
