Kerala SET 2022 Eligibility Criteria: Qualification, Reservation, Age Limit

The LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, conducts the Kerala State Eligibility Test for candidates seeking to be selected as Higher Secondary School Teachers and Non-Vocational Teachers in VHSE. For candidates to be recruited as Higher Secondary School Teachers in Kerala, passing the Kerala SET is a necessary criterion.

The Kerala SET entrance examination lasts four hours. The paper comprises two parts: Paper I & II. Paper 1 is the same for all applicants, Paper 2 includes questions from the subject in which the candidate has a post-graduate specialisation. Kerala SET Paper 2 test candidates can choose from a list of 31 subjects.

The administrators of the LBS Centre for Science and Technology announced the Kerala SET Notification 2022 for the January Session. Officials have commenced collecting online registration forms for Kerala SET 2022 as of October 20, 2021. On January 9th, 2022, the Kerala State Eligibility Test (SET) will be held. Candidates should read the Kerala SET 2022 Eligibility Details mentioned below before applying. Additionally, the application date for the Kerala SET Exam is November 3rd, 2021. The deadline to pay the application fee for the Kerala State Eligibility Test (Kerala SET) has been extended till November 5, 2021.

Kerala SET 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have a master’s degree in a specialised subject with an aggregate grade of at least 50% or an equivalent grade. Aside from that, candidates must have a B.Ed degree in any discipline from a university in Kerala, or equivalent qualifications from any university that is regarded comparable to these universities. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry

Have an MSc Ed degree in the relevant topic from any NCERT-sponsored Regional Instituted of Education with a minimum of 50% or equivalent grade.

Botany and Zoology

Have an MSc Ed degree in the relevant topic from any NCERT-sponsored Regional Instituted of Education with a minimum of 50% or equivalent grade.

 

OR

Have an MSc Ed degree in Life Science from any Regional Institutes of Education with a minimum of 50% or comparable grade.

Anthropology, Commerce, French, Gandhian Studies, Geology, German, Home Science, Journalism, Latin, Music, Philosophy, Psychology, Russian, Social Work, Sociology, Statistics and Syriac

It is not required for a candidate to possess a B.Ed. degree

English

Have a master's degree in Communicative English with a grade point average of at least 50% and a bachelor's degree in education.

Hindi

As per the official website, "Candidates who have acquired a BEd degree in Hindi from the Dakshin Bharatha Hindi Prachar Sabha are exempt from submitting an equivalence certificate because the degree has been acknowledged by colleges in Kerala."

Latin

Cleared their degree exam in any discipline (from any university in Kerala or recognised as equivalent) with Latin as a second language under Paper II with a minimum of 50%. This eligibility criterion applies only if the applicants have received a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Part II.

Aspirants should be aware that they will not be eligible for the Kerala SET 2022 if they obtained their qualifications from Correspondence Courses/Open Universities that are not recognised by any of Kerala's universities. According to the official website, "candidates who have obtained their qualifications through recognised correspondence courses/Open universities should seek and produce certificates of recognition and equivalence from any one of the Universities in Kerala."

Note: Aspirants in the last year of a B.Ed. degree programme who have a master’s degree with the necessary marks required to meet the SET eligibility criteria are also eligible for Kerala SET 2022. Candidates who have earned a B.Ed. degree and are in their final year of a postgraduate programme also meet the qualifying requirements.  “Candidates who meets the above criteria must provide the Certificates of their qualifying examinations completed with the minimum required marks within one year of the date of publication of the test results, failing which they will be deemed as disqualified," according to the official website.

Kerala SET 2022: Relaxation of Marks for SC/ST

SC/ ST applicants who wish to take the Kerala SET 2022 will be given a 5%-mark reduction in the minimum qualifying marks required to take the exam.

Kerala 2022 Age limit

There is no upper age limit for those who wish to participate in Kerala SET 2022.
