Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for Law (MH CET LAW) 2023 Eligibility Criteria is decided by the Directorate of Higher Education, Maharashtra. MH CET LAW 2023 Eligibility Criteria should be fulfilled by the candidate to appear in the entrance exam. The aspirants who will qualify for the entrance exam will get admitted to the First Year of Three Year Degree Course in Law leading to LL.B. (3Yrs.). MH CET LAW 2023 Eligibility Criteria

MH CET LAW 2023 Age Criteria

There is no upper age limit for MH CET Examination. If the Age limit is made applicable it will be 30 Yrs of age for Open Category Candidates and 35 Yrs for SC and ST Category candidates from the State of Maharashtra only as on 01 July 2023. All applying candidates should take note of this. 

  • The aspirants must be Indian National to apply for the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test.

MH CET LAW 2023 Educational Qualifications for Indian Nationals

The educational qualifications which have to be fulfilled are as follows:

  • Candidate should hold a graduation degree in any faculty of any University in Maharashtra established by an act of Parliament or by a State Legislature or an equivalent National Institution recognized as a Deemed to be University or Foreign University recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence.
  • The applying aspirants must be with Minimum 45% of marks in aggregate (45% marks for all the parts of the Degree Examination taken together), (there will be a relaxation of 5% marks for candidate belonging to SC and ST Category and for VJNT, SBC and OBC Category the relaxation is given is of 7% marks of the general category candidates.
  •  An applicant who has passed the U.G degree of minimum three years and P.G degree of 2/3 Yrs, duration from recognised university processing the studies in the pattern of 10+2+3+2/3 with regular studies at secondary and higher secondary schooling.
NOTE: Post Graduate Diploma will not be considered as Post Graduate Degree. Provided that, the applicants who have obtained 10+2 Higher Secondary Pass Certificate or First Degree  Certificate by distance or correspondence method shall also be considered as eligible for CET of the 3 Years Law Courses. 
  • The candidates who are appearing/appeared for the qualifying examination UG or PG (regular examination of that Academic Year) are also eligible to apply for the MAH CET Law 2023 Entrance Examination. Such candidates become eligible for admission only if they produce the provisional/Degree certificate of the qualifying examination and the marks list of all parts of qualifying examination at the time of CAP Application form filling.
Key Points for MH CET Law 2023 exam
  • The qualifications of 10th, 12th (+2) and Graduation obtained through any mode (distance/correspondence / open schooling method) are eligible for LL.B.-3 Year CET 2023 Examination.
  • Candidates who have passed 10th & 12th with Regular Mode/ Distance Mode/ By filling Form-17/NIOS( The National Institute of Open Schooling formerly known as Open School NOS) ) or equivalent qualifying examination for HSC + 3 Year Graduate examination & or 2 Year Post Graduate examination are eligible for LL.B-3 CET 2020 Examination, provided their Education Pattern should be 10+2+3 ( SSC+HSC+3 Year Graduate Degree).
  • 3-year graduation degree in any faculty from a University recognised by UGC and following a 10+2+3 education pattern is a must, to appear in MAH-LL.B.-3 Year CET 2023 exam & for admission of three-year law course.
  • Candidate should have completed any 3 Year bachelor degree from any open University (recognized by UGC) after passing 12th Std. (HSC) are eligible for LL.B.-3 year CET-2023.
Note- Candidates from Outside Maharashtra Universities will be considered as Open Category candidates irrespective of their Caste / Category and Criteria applicable to Open Category candidates will apply to them.

MH CET LAW 2023 Eligibility Criteria for Maharashtra State Candidature

Graduate or Post Graduate candidate in any faculty of any University in Maharashtra established by an Act of Parliament or by a State Legislature or an equivalent National Institution in Maharashtra recognized as a Deemed to be University or Foreign University in Maharashtra recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence; and 

Maharashtra State Candidature Type-A
  • A candidate who is Domicile of Maharashtra or born in Maharashtra (Candidate should have a Birth Certificate mentioning the Place of Birth which is in Maharashtra).
  • Provided candidate should have completed his/her Graduation & or Post Graduation from the State of Maharashtra.
Maharashtra State Candidature Type-B
  • The Parents of the Candidate should be domiciled in the State of Maharashtra (Either father or mother of the candidate should have a domicile certificate from the state of Maharashtra).
  • Provided candidate should have completed his/her Graduation & or Post Graduation from the State of Maharashtra.
Maharashtra State Candidature Type-C
  • The Father or Mother of the Candidate should be an employee of the Government of India or Government of India Undertaking who is posted and reported to duty in the Maharashtra State before the last date for submitting the Application Form for CAP.
  • Provided candidate should have completed his/her Graduation & or Post Graduation from Maharashtra.
 Maharashtra State Candidature Type-D
  • The Father or Mother of the Candidate should be an employee of the Maharashtra Govt. or the Government of Maharashtra Undertaking.
  • Provided Candidate should have completed his/her Graduation & or Post Graduation qualifying examination from the State of Maharashtra.
Maharashtra State Candidature Type-E
  • The candidates passing Graduation & or Post Graduation Examination from a recognized institution from a disputed Maharashtra-Karnataka Border Area and whose Mother tongue is Marathi.

MAH CET LAW 2023 Eligibility for Jammu and Kashmir Migrant

The J&K candidates can check their eligibility for the MAH CET 2023 exam:

  • The children of citizens from Jammu and Kashmir who has been displaced to any part of India or from unsafe border area of Jammu and Kashmir to a relatively safer place in Jammu and Kashmir from 1990 onwards due to terrorist activities.  OR
  • The children of officers belonging to Indian Administrative Services (IAS) or Indian Police Services (IPS) or Indian Foreign Services (IFS) and children of staff belonging to military and paramilitary forces transferred to Jammu and Kashmir to combat terrorist activities and joined the post on or before the last date for submission of application for admission.   OR
  • The children of staff and officers of Jammu and Kashmir police engaged in combating terrorism are eligible. 

MAH CET LAW 2023 Eligibility for NRI/OCI/PIO/FNS/CIWGC

Candidate belongs to the type (Non-Resident Indian, Person of Indian Origin, Overseas Citizen of India and Foreign National Students, Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf Countries) with the above Academic Eligibility is not required to appear for CET Examination.

  • They must register for CAP rounds to be declared after the CET result.
  • NRI/OCI/PIO/FNS/CIWGC candidates will have to undergo the document verification as per the schedule of the CAP.

Exemption from MAH CET LAW 2023 Exam

The applying aspirants can know the exemption from the entrance exam from below given points:

  • The candidate who obtained a bachelor's degree from any open University with a preparatory examination without passing HSC is not eligible for the LL.B.-3 year CET 2020 examination & admission of the LL.B.-3 Year Course.
  • Those candidates who have passed 10+2 after Graduation and Post Graduation are not eligible for LL.B.-3 Year CET 2020 & admission of LL.B.-3 Year Course since their educational qualification is Non-Sequential.
