NID DAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria is set by the National Institute of Design which the candidates have to follow to appear for the exam. NID Design Aptitude Test 2023 is a National Level entrance exam organised to offer admission into Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses at most prestigious Design Institutions across India. The courses in which candidates will get admission through NID DAT are B.Des, M.Des, GDPD and Ph.D in Design. NID DAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must check the NID eligibility 2023 before applying for the DAT exam. Design Aptitude Test eligibility should be fulfilled by each candidate who wants to persue Bachelor or Master’s Degree from National Institute of Design otherwise their candidature will be cancelled. The eligibility criteria for UG & PG courses is given below:
NID DAT 2023 Eligibility for B.Des/GDPD
The NID Eligibility Criteria 2023 for Bachelor of Design (B.Des) is different from that of M.Des course.

For Indian Nationals (PwD Reserved Category) | Upper age limit for candidates is 25 years as on 30 June 2023. Candidates who has born on or after 01 July 1995 are eligible to apply for admission. |
For Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary Category) | Upper age limit is 20 years as on 30 June 2023. If the candidates are born on or after 01 July 2000 then they are eligible to apply for admission. |
Educational Qualification:-
- Applicants who have passed or appearing for 10+2 qualifying examinations in year 2023 from any recognized board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or their equivalent in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce etc.) are eligible for the exam.
Important Note:
- Candidates must have passed their Class XII examination (higher secondary (10+2)) or equivalent at the in-person Counselling scheduled on June 2023.
- Any candidate who has not passed their final board exam or equivalent before the in-person Counselling will not be eligible for admission and their candidature will be cancelled.
NID DAT2023 Eligibility for M.Des

For Indian Nationals (PwD Reserved Category) | Upper age limit for candidates is 35 years as on 30 June 2023. Only those candidates born on or after 01 July 1985 are eligible to apply for admission. |
For Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category | Upper age limit is 30 years as on 30 June 2023. Therefore, candidates born on or after 01 July 1990 are eligible to apply for admission. |
Educational Qualification:-
- Candidates must have passed Bachelor degree (4 year) in any specialization from any university or institute recognised by law in India.
- Condition: At the time of document verification, applicant must have passed the Bachelor degree examinations.
OR
- After 12th standard or equivalent, candidates should possess a Bachelor degree of minimum 3-year duration in any discipline.
- Condition: Candidates should have passed their Bachelor degree examinations before July 2019.
OR
- Full-time Diploma of minimum 4-year duration in Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/Architecture, after 12th standard or equivalent from any recognized university/institute.
- Condition: All the applicants who will be shortlisted foor the counselling must have passed the Diploma examinations at the time of document verification scheduled in June 2023 ( tentatively)*.
*If the University have not issued the final degree certificate by the date of application to NID, then also candidates are eligible to apply for the exam, subject to passing all subjects without any backlog. Such a candidate will have to submit/produce Provisional Degree certificate at the time of Counselling.
NOTE: In case the degree/certificate has been obtained from a university/board of any country other than India, an equivalence certificate must be obtained by the candidate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, at the time of document verification tentatively scheduled in June 2023.
Important Points:
- Candidates yet to appear for their qualifying exam (ONLY Full-time Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+4 system or more) are eligible to apply, provided they produce proof of having acquired the minimum required qualifications at the time of document verification. Candidate must produce a valid certificate (Provisional/Degree)at the time of document verification tentatively scheduled in June 2023. Failing to produce the provisional degree certificate, such candidate’s candidature will stand cancelled & will not be offered admission. Their seat will be offered to the next candidate in order of merit.
- If the results of their final year of graduation (under 10+2+4 system or more only) have not been declared by the concerned board or university at the time of applying, in that case candidate will have to submit provisional degree certificate at the time of document verification that will be scheduled on June 2023.
