For M.Sc MLT courses- Theory paper containing 50 MCQs of 100 marks. Duration of entrance examination will be one hour (60 minutes). There will be Negative marking to the tune of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

Marking Scheme for PGIMER 2023

MD /MS Course

The details for marking scheme for Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh are mentioned below:

  • The question paper will be framed of  250 questions each having five options. Hence there will be total of 1250 responses options.
  • The scoring is done through customized software that matches the candidates’ responses to each of the 1250 possible responses (marked as correct, or left blank) with the true answer (correct or incorrect). 
  • Correct responses (i.e. candidate correctly marks a response as true) are scored positively, and incorrect responses (i.e. candidate marks an incorrect response as correct) are negatively scored.
  • If a candidate will not mark any option for a particular question then there will be no marking done for that question. A candidate’s percentage score will be computed using the formula: Percentage score= [x/a–y/b] ×100.
For DM/M.Ch Course

The details for exam pattern for DM/M.Ch Courses are as follows:

  • Part 1 - Each question correctly answered will be awarded one mark. No negative marking for wrong answers.
  • Paper 2 - Each correct answer will be given 1 mark & incorrect responses will be negatively marked.
  • The marks obtained in Parts 1 and 2 will be added to obtain the total theory score to qualify this exam.

Provision for Persons with Disability

The details for Provisions for persons with disability for PGIMER 2023 MD/MS is given below:

  • Visually Impaired (VI) candidates/ applicants whose writing speed is affected by Cerebral Palsy/muscular dystrophy/candidates with Locomotor disability (one arm)/Intellectual disability (Autism, specific learning disability and mental illness) can avail the assistance of scribe on their own behalf.
  • For engaging the scribe, candidates will have to intimate through email id [email protected]  while filling ONLINE application form writing answers on their behalf. 
  •  Engagement of scribe will be subject to the following conditions: 
    • Candidates will have to arrange for the scribe on their own. 
    • The educational qualification of the scribe should be lesser than that of the candidate.
    • The scribe must not be appearing candidate of the PGIMER 2023 entrance exam.
    • Also, the same scribe should not be engaged for more than one candidate. 
    • Both scribe & candidate must give declaration for the same.
    • Those candidates opting for scribe will have to provide additional details for scribes before closing date of the ONLINE application form so that PGIMER can issue Call Letter for the scribe and the same shall be signed by both candidate and scribe.
    • All the scribes should produce original and valid ID proof at the Examination Center and also bring passport size photograph for the verification purpose.
    • The candidate shall be responsible for any misconduct on the part of the scribe brought by him/her during the test. 
    • The compensatory time of 20 minutes will be given to the candidates availing the assistance of a scribe in the exam hall.
    • Candidates who wish to avail services of scribe but are unable to furnish the details of scribe by the stipulated time may avail the services of a scribe at the examination centre.
  • Those candidates whose visual degree of disability is less than 40% will not be considered as Visually Impaired persons, hence will not be given provision for engaging scribe.
