UPSC IFS 2023 preliminary exam will be conducted on 05 June 2023 and Mains will be held from 20-29 November 2023. Indian Forest Service exam is organized at All India Level by the government of India recruiting officers for the scientific management of its forests. It is mandatory in the IFS service, the implementation of the National Forest Policy which aims to ensure the environmental stability and maintenance of ecological balance. The IFS exam consists of three stages- 
  • Preliminary Examination
  • Main Examination
  • Personality test

UPSC IFS 2023 Admit Card

The Candidates can download  UPSC IFS admit card 2023 three weeks before the commencement of the exam. E-admit card will be released at the UPSC official website, upsc.gov.in. Candidates can find their E-Admit Card under the ‘admit card’ tab. Candidates can download admit card with registration number or by roll number.

Candidates can follow the given steps to download the admit card:-

  1. At first, visit the official website of UPSC.
  2. Click on the link for the admit card tab
  3. Select IFS Admit card 2023 link to generate the hall ticket
  4. Login with the credentials properly and the admit card will be displayed on the screen.
  5. Download and generate a hardcopy of the UPSC IFS 2023 admit card.

UPSC IFS 2023 Application Form

The Application form of IFS 2023 has been available on the official website of UPSC. The application form filled at the time of Civil service(prelims) will act as the screening test for the selection of candidates for IFS mains. Those who qualify for this test will have to fill the detailed application form.

  • Candidates need to apply for the entrance exam on the official website only no other mode of filling the form is available.
  • Should give the valid detail of one of the following documents like Aadhar Card, Voter ID card, PAN Card, Passport, Driving License, and any other government photo ID proof which is issued by the state or central government of India.
  • Upload the scanned copy of required documents such as photographs and signature in the prescribed format.
  • Applicants must avoid submission of multiple application forms.
  • If due to some unwanted situation candidate submits multiple applicants then they must ensure that the application form with higher RID (Registration ID) must be completed in all the respect i.e., applicants details, exam centre, photograph, signature, photo ID, and fees.
  • Candidates whether already in the government job or government-owned industrial undertaking or other similar organization or other similar organization or in private employment must submit their application directly to the commission.
  • Application Fees can be paid through online mode only.

Mode of Payment: Aspirants can make payments through both modes of payment online as well as offline.
  • Online Mode: Via using VISA/Master/RuPay/Credit Card/Debit Card/or Net Banking of SBI bank.
  • Offline Mode: Via depositing the money in any branch of SBI bank.

UPSC IFS 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates need to go through the eligibility for UPSC IFS 2023 to sit for the Prelims and Mains. Following are the Eligibility conditions for the examination:

Nationality- A candidate must be either:
  • A citizen of India 
  • A subject of Nepal
  • A subject of Bhutan
  • a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 intending to permanently settle in India.
  • Candidates belonging to b, c, d, e shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Govt. of India. 
Age Limits- A candidate must not be less than 21 years of age and the maximum age to appear for the exam is 32 years.

The upper age limit shall be relaxable in the following conditions-

a) A maximum of 5 years if a candidate belongs to Schedule caste or Schedule Tribe.

b) A maximum of 3 years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes

c) Up to a maximum of 5 years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the state of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from 1st January 1980 to 31 December 1989. 

d)  Up to a maximum of 3 years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released.

e) up to a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned officers and ECOs/SSCOs.

f) Up to a maximum of 10 years in the case of persons with benchmark disabilities viz-

  • Low vision
  • Partially deaf
  • Locomotor disability
Number of Attempts: Every eligible individual shall be permitted six attempts for the examination counting each prelim.

However, this restriction in no of attempts will not be applicable to Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe.

For the OBC( Non-creamy layer), the no of attempts shall be 9 times.

Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards set by the govt to get admission in Indian Forest Service Examination 2023.
