UPSC IFS 2023 Syllabus is released by the conducted authority (UPSC). UPSC IFS 2023 is organized at the All India Level by the government of India recruiting officers for the scientific management of its forests. UPSC IFS 2023 Prelims Syllabus

The UPSC IFS 2023 exam will be consist of two question paper and the question paper will be set from the given topics which are listed below:

For Paper-I
  •  Current events of national and international importance
  • History of India and the Indian National Movement
  • Indian and World Geography:
    • Physical
    • Social
    • Economic Geography of India and the World.
  • Indian Polity and Governance:
    • Constitution
    • Political System
    • Panchayati Raj
    • Public Policy
    • Rights Issues
  • Economic and Social Development:
    • Sustainable Development
    • Poverty
    • Inclusion
    • Demographics
    • Social
    • Sector Initiatives
  • General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity, and Climate Change
  • General Science. 
For Paper-II
  • Comprehension
  • Interpersonal skills including communication skills
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability
  • Decision making and problem-solving
  • General mental ability
  • Basic numeracy
    • numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc (Class X level)
  • Data interpretation
    • charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc (Class X level)

UPSC IFS 2023 Main Syllabus

The UPSC IFS 2023 exam will be consist of Six question paper and question paper will be set from the given topics which are listed below:

For Paper-I
  • GENERAL ENGLISH
    • Candidates will be required to write an essay in the English language. Other questions will be designed to test their understanding of workman and English like the use of words. Passages will usually be set for a summary.
For Paper-II
  • GENERAL KNOWLEDGE
    • General Knowledge and knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject.
    • The paper will also include questions on Indian Polity including:
      • The political system
      • The Constitution of India
      • History of India
      • Geography of nature 
For Paper - III, IV, V, & VI

The candidate chooses any two subjects for the mains exam from the given list:

  • Agriculture
  • Agricultural Engineering
  • Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
  • Botany
  • Chemistry
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Forestry
  • Geology
  • Mathematics
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Physics
  • Statistics
  • Zoology 

Candidates will not be allowed to choose the following combination of subjects :

  • Agriculture and Agricultural Engg
  • Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
  • Agriculture and Forestry
  • Chemistry and Chemical Engg
  • Mathematics and Statistics
  • Engineering subjects with the Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering will not be selected more than one subject.

UPSC IFS 2023 Exam Pattern

Candidate can check the UPSC IFS 2023 exam pattern in the given list below:

For Preliminary Exam
  • Mode of Exam: The exam will be in offline (pen and paper test) mode
  • Total Paper: There will two papers in the examination
  • The medium of Examination: Hindi and English
  • Type of Questions: MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions)
  • Maximum Marks: 400 marks (200 marks for each exam)
  • Duration: 2 Hours for each exam
For IFS Main Exam
  • Mode of Exam: The exam will be in offline (pen and paper test) mode
  • Total Paper: There will six papers in the examination
  • Medium of Examination: English only
  • Type of Questions: Essay Type
  • Maximum Marks: 1400 marks (300 marks for paper-I and paper-II. For paper III, paper IV, Paper V, and Paper VI 200 marks for each paper)
  • Duration: 3 Hours for each exam
