Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University
Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, formerly Ranchi College, is a state university located in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. It is named after the Indian politician Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. It was established as a college in 1926 and upgraded to a university in 2017. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University is the only College which has Senior Division (Boys), Senior Wing (Girls) in Army and Boys Air wing. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University is the first college in the country to take out a Vijay Diwas procession of the students, Teachers and Non-teaching staff of the college along with Ncc cadets of the college after the Kargil War. Situated on the tropic of cancer, at an altitude of 651m from sea level amidst tropical flora and fauna, Ranchi College, Ranchi (now upgraded as a Unitary State University and known as Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi) had been established during the Pre- Independent India.
