Goa University Admission 2023 for PG program is based on Goa University Admissions Ranking Test (GU-ART). Goa University is a Government (State) University established by the Government of Goa. The university was established on 1 June 1985. The university was established to provide higher education to the youth of Goa under the various inter-complementary way of education. The establishment of the university was a gift of the Portuguese culture that was very famous in goa at that time. The university is situated in Taleigao.  The university provides various courses in Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and doctorate degrees. The university offers many other co-curricular activities with power-packed Education to make the students overall developed. The university was established with a motive to make fundamental and socio-economic knowledge a part of student's life. The university campus is spread across 402 acres with ambient infrastructure.

Goa University Admission 2023

  1. Admissions to most undergraduate and postgraduate courses are based on merit obtained in the qualifying examination.
  2. For admission to some courses, such as the M.Tech program, the university conducts its own entrance exam, followed by an interview.

GU-PET Exam / Ph.D. Courses Admission

Goa University Ph.D. Entrance Test: Admissions to the Ph.D. programme is based on the performance in the Ph.D. entrance exam (GU-PET) conducted by Goa University. Application for seeking admission to Ph.D./M.Phil Programme offered at Post Graduate Departments/Research Centres of Goa University shall be accepted online from 16/10/2020 to 30/10/2020.

Graduate Aptitude Test of Biotechnology (GAT-B)

Admission in M.Sc Marine Biotechnology program at Goa University is based on Graduate Aptitude Test - Biotechnology. 
  • The Graduate Aptitude Test - Biotechnology, previously Combined Entrance Examination for Biotechnology (CEEB) by JNU, is being conducted by the Regional Centre for Biotechnology on behalf of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
  • RCB/DBT will not be responsible for the admission and selection process at participating institutions

Goa University Admissions Ranking Test (GU-ART)

GU-ART PG/B.Ed: Admission to the Post Graduate Programmes at Goa University and affiliated colleges for the academic year 2023-22 shall be entirely based on the Goa University Admissions Ranking Test (GU-ART).
  • The marks percentage obtained by the students while graduating would only be used to ascertain the eligibility of candidates for the Programme.
  • The purpose of the GU-ART is only to rank the prospective students and not for determination of pass/ fail.
  • Applications will be accepted through online mode in the month of November 2020.
  • The GU-ART shall be of one paper of 100 marks, containing 50 objective type Multiple
    Choice Questions (MCQ) of 2 marks each. 

Goa University Application Process 2023

Follow these steps for goa university registration:

  1. Visit the Official website of the university. i.e. https://www.unigoa.ac.in/
  2. Click on the Application Form link.
  3. Fill up the form with all the details properly, correctly.
  4. All the details should be filled properly as an incomplete form will not be considered.
  5. Upload the scanned copies of all the Documents in the asked size.
  6.  Upload the signatory and recent passport size photograph of the Applicant.
  7. Then pay the Application fee by the prescribed mode of payment.
  8. After the payment Applicants can register for the entrance exam and can book their slots for the exam.

  Documents required while filling up of the form:

  • Two recent passport size photographs
  • Birth Certificate from Competent Authority.
  • Marks sheets of the previous qualifying examination

  • Certificate of Income in original issued by Panchayat
  • Leaving/Transfer certificate from school or college last attended
  • Non-Migrant Caste Certificate

  • A certified copy of the passport or other equivalent documents as proof of being an Indian Citizen.

Goa University Reservation

Reservations are available at Goa University for eligible candidates from several categories. Seats in various courses can be reserved as follows:

  • In each Post Graduate programme, 2% of seats are allotted for students from the SC category.
  • Candidates from the ST category will be allocated 12% of places in postgraduate programmes (minimum of one seat).
  • A minimum of two seats (27 percent of total seats) will be provided for applicants from other backward classes (OBC).
  • Differently abled candidates will be allocated 5% of total seats (minimum one seat) (as per State Government directives).
  • Ex-children servicemen's will be allocated 1% of the overall seating capacity.
  • Except for the MCA and MBA programmes of study, 10% of seats will be made available for applicants from other universities, with a maximum of two seats and a minimum of one seat in each programme of study.
    15 percent of seats are earmarked for international students who are eligible for admission and are recommended by the Indian government via a scholarship or exchange programme (ICCR Programme)
  • According to UGC directions, one seat in each programme shall be allotted for Kashmiri Migrants (KM) out of the 15% supernumerary seats.

Goa University Scholarships

For worthy and distinguished students, the university offers a variety of scholarships, freeships, and research studentships. The following are the relevant details:

  • Students who receive more than 60% in the qualifying test in Arts, Commerce, and Management Studies and at least 65 percent of the aggregate marks in Science Streams are eligible for a merit scholarship.
  • Free Studentship: This is available to students whose parents' income does not exceed INR 3 LPA. The candidate must have a minimum of 45 percent in Arts, Commerce, and Management Studies and a minimum of 50 percent in Science.
  • Full-time research scholars with a minimum of 55 percent in their Master's degree and confirmed Ph.D. registration are eligible for a research studentship.

Goa University Facilities

The following are some of the university's services that cater to the needs of students:

  • Hostels: On the university campus, there are distinct hostel facilities for male and female students. There are two hostels for men and women, each with well-equipped facilities such as a mess, WiFi access, sports, a TV room, and bus service. Priority is given to students enrolled in university graduate programmes and research scholars. Students enrolling in connected colleges will only be supplied with housing if space is available.
  • There are over 208519 books, 35827 reference books, 243 journals, and 214 e-books in the library. Aside from that, students can access digital databases, CDs, DVDs, and electronic journals. The library can accommodate a total of 120 pupils.
  • Computer Centre: With the help of the UGC, the university computer centre was established to provide IT services to both academics and students. It comes with all of the most up-to-date applications for convenient access. There are 24 computer labs throughout the institution, each with 1 Gbps internet access.
