Sardar Patel University (SPU) is a public state university located in Gujarat. It is named after the Iron man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Sardar Patel University was established in December 1955 by an Act of the Legislative Assembly of the then-Bombay Province and was recognized by the University Grant Commission (UGC). Originally, it had the status of a rural university but now it has been diversified with the motto of Excellence Matters. The University has 11 faculties and 28 departments.
