CDS 1 2023 will be conducted on 16 April 2023 by the Union Public Service Commission. This exam will be conducted at the national level for the candidates who wish to be a part of the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Indian Air Force, and Officer Training Academy. The CDS exam is organized twice a year as CDS 1 and CDS 2. The candidates are firstly supposed to clear the written test by scoring the minimum cut off marks after which they can appear for the round of SSB Interview and hence get shortlisted in the academy.
Candidates after qualifying the interview round have to go through the medical examination and document verification procedure. The candidates who wish to join CDS can go through the complete article to get all the important information related to the CDS exam.

CDS 1 2023 Admit Card

Candidates can download their CDS Admit Card 2023 on the UPSC official website. Check all the essential information related to CDS 1 hall ticket:

  • Candidates have to download the admit card from the official website, the authority will not send the exam ticket via post or SMS.
  • For downloading the CDS admit card, candidates have to log in with their registration ID and password.
  • Candidates need to enter some required details.
  • They should check their admit card carefully and ensure that every detail must be included such as exam day and time, centre name and address and so on.
  • Candidates are advised to take the print out of their CDS admit card for examination and must carry it in the examination hall along with government photo ID proof.

CDS 1 2023 Preparation Tips

The following CDS 1 2023 preparation tips will help the candidates during their preparation for the exam:

  • The candidates must be aware of the exam syllabus.
  • Candidates must study all the subjects and give equal time to all the subjects.
  • Practice question papers from all the previous year sample papers and question papers.
  • Applicants must take out a printout of the exam syllabus, mark all the important topics prepare short notes and revise them before few days of the exam.
  • Students must take a balanced diet and have proper rest.
  • Meditation or yoga can be practised to manage stress.

CDS 2023 Result

Union Public Service Commission prepares the list of the candidates who are able to get minimum qualifying score, as mentioned by the Commission, in the written test. Successful candidates then will go for the intelligence test and personality test, conducted at the Service Selection Board on the basis of the preference they have filled by the responsible serve headquarter. Two-stage selection procedure is set on the basis of Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test at the Service Selection Boards. Candidates who are able to qualify the first stage will be able to appear for the second stage. After clearing the second stage candidates will be asked to submit their,

CDS 1 2023 Selection Procedure

Given below are the CDS exam selection process, candidates must check it carefully:

  • The CDS 1 selection process 2023 is divided into three phases: Written Examination, SSB Interview and Personality Test, and Medical Fitness Test.
  • The candidates will have to go through medical examination after they clear their SSB Interview round.
  • Document verification would also be done at the time of selection.

CDS 1 2023 Intelligence and Personality Test

Candidates can check the details concern with CDS 1 2023 Intelligence and Personality Test:

  • Candidates who successfully cleared the written exam will be a called for intelligence and personality test at the Service Selection Board based on their preference by the respective service HQ.
  • Candidates who qualify in the written exam will have to register themselves on the recruiting directorate website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in to enable them to receive a call for SSB Interview.
  • The selection procedure consists of a two-stage Selection process - stage I and stage II. Only those candidates are permitted to appear for stage II who cleared the stage 1. The details are:-
(a) Stage I comprises of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests are Picture Perception and Description Test (PP&DT). The candidates will be shortlisted based on the combination of performance in OIR Test and PP&DT.

(b) Stage II Comprises of Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. These tests are conducted over 4 days. The details of these tests are given on the website

  • The personality of a candidate is assessed by three different assessors viz. The Interviewing Officer (IO), Group Testing Officer (GTO) and the Psychologist. There are no separate weightage for each test.
  • Marks are allotted by assessors only after taking into consideration the performance of the candidate holistically in all the test.
  • Besides, marks for Conference are also allotted based on the initial performance of the Candidate in the three techniques and decision of the Board. All these have equal weightage.
  • The various tests of IO, GTO and Psych are designed to bring out the presence/absence of Officer Like Qualities and their trainability in a candidate.
  • Candidates are then recommended or not recommended at the SSB accordingly. 

CDS 1 2023 Medical Fitness Test

The final selection will be made in order of merit subject to medical fitness and suitability in all other respects and the number of vacancies available. Check the information related to the CDS exam Medical Fitness Test given below:

  2. Deviated Nasal Septum
  3. Hydrocele/Varicocele/Phimosis
  4. Overweight/Underweight
  5. Piles and
  6. Gynaecomastia 
Note: Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on the inner face of forearm Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable and candidates will be barred from further selection. Tribes with tattoo marks on the face or body as per their existing custom and traditions will be permitted on a case to case basis. 
  • A candidate recommended by the Services Selection Board will undergo a medical examination by a Board of Service Medical Officers. Women candidates will undergo Medical Examination by a Medical Board comprising male/female doctors/specialists/Gynaecologist.
  • There will be a Lady Medical Officer as Member of Board. Only those candidates will be admitted to the Academy who are declared fit by the Medical Board. 
  • Unfit candidates may apply for Appeal Medical Board (AMB) and may request for Review Medical Board (RMB) within one day of completion of Appeal Medical Board. 

The candidate must be physically fit according to the prescribed physical standards which are summarized below:

  1. The candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease/disability which is likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties.
  2. There should be no evidence of weak constitution, bodily defects or underweight. The candidate should not be overweight or obese.
  3. The minimum acceptable height for male candidates is 157.5 cms. (157 cms for Navy and 162.5 cms for Air Force). Women candidates minimum acceptable height is 152 cms. For Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of North-Eastern region of India, Garhwali and Kumaon, the Minimum acceptable height will be 5 cms less. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cms. 
  4. Candidates are advised to undergo a preliminary medical check-up for wax in ears, refractory error of eyes, fungal infection of skin etc. before reporting for the SSB interview.
  5. All candidates who are selected will be undergoing tough military training and will be deployed to perform military duties in any terrain, weather and austere conditions.
  6. All candidates will be examined by the Board of Medical Officers who have undergone basic military training and are well oriented to working conditions of military deployment and working conditions.
  7. The following investigations are carried out mandatorily during Special Medical Board, however, Medical Officer/Medical Board examining a candidate may ask for any other investigation as required or indicated:-
    1. Complete Haemogram
    2. Urine RE/ME
    3. X-ray chest PA view
    4. USG abdomen & pelvis
  1. Medical Examination of Female Candidates. General methods and principles of medical examination of female candidates will be the same as for male candidates. A detailed physical and systemic examination will be carried out of the candidate and she should be examined by a lady Medical Officer or a lady Gynaecologist or male medical officer in the presence of a female attendant.
  2. Pregnancy can be the cause of temporary rejection. The individual would be advised to report again to the hospital 24 weeks after an uncomplicated vaginal delivery.

CDS 1 2023 Application Form

Candidates would be filled CDS 2023 Application Form on the official website of UPSC. To check all the relevant information regarding the CDS 1 registration 2023, read the section below: 
  • Candidates are required to fill the application form online on the official website.
  • Upload the scanned copy of photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
  • Candidates have to provide the details of one photo ID proof (Aadhar Card/ Voter Card/ PAN Card/ Passport/ Driving License/ Any other photo ID Card) issued by the State/Central Government. 
  • Candidates should avoid submitting multiple applications. If in case the candidates need to submit multiple applications they must make sure that application with higher RID (Registration ID) is complete in all respect.
  • In case of multiple applications form, the applications form with higher RID shall be considered by the Commission and fee paid against one RID shall not be adjusted against any other RID. 
  • Also, applicants must provide valid e-mail ID while filling the form as the  Commission may use electronic mode of communication while contacting them at different stages of the examination process.

  2. a subject of Bhutan, or
