CDS 1 2022 Eligibility Criteria: Nationality, Education Qualification

CDS 2022 Eligibility Criteria will be released by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This exam is conducted twice a year in an offline (pen and paper) mode. On the CDS score basis, candidates get a chance to be a part of Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Indian Air Force, and Officer Training Academy. Before filling the application form, candidates must check the CDS Eligibility to know whether they are eligible for the exam they are applying for. Therefore, candidates can go through the whole article below to know about officially announced eligibility of CDS Admission Test 2022.  

CDS 1 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates can check CDS 1 2022 exam Eligibility for Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Indian Air Force, and Officer Training Academy entrance exam from below:

CDS 1 Nationality Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must possess the nationality of following country citizenship for entrance exam:

  • India 
  • Bhutan
  • Nepal
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 to permanently settle in India
  • The candidate who possess Indian origin but has move from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam to permanently settle in India.

Candidates of other than India must have a certificate of eligibility which has been issued by the Government of India. Certificate of eligibility will, however, not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

A candidate whose certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination provisionally subject to the necessary certificate being given to him/her by the Govt. before the declaration of result by UPSC. 

Educational Qualification Criteria for CDS February Session

Candidates can check the educational eligibility criteria for CDS according to academy given below:

  • I.M.A. and Officers Training Academy, Chennai: Candidates must have a degree from a recognised university or equivalent.
  • Indian Naval Academy: Candidates should possess a degree in engineering from any recognised university or equivalent.
  • For Air Force Academy: Candidates should have a degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
  • Candidates who graduate with Army/Navy/Air Force as the first choice have to submit the proof of graduation/provisional certificate at the time of commencement of the SSB Interview at the SSB. 
  • Candidates who have a degree of professional and technical qualifications which are recognised by the government as equivalent to professional and technical degrees would also be eligible for admission to the examination.
  • Candidates who are in final year/ semester and have yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply but they should not have any present backlog up to the last semester/year for which results have been declared up to the time of submission of application.
  •  Candidates who are debarred by the Ministry of Defence from holding any type of commission in the Defence Services shall not be eligible for admission to the examination and if admitted, their candidature will be cancelled. 

CDS 1 2022 Other Eligibility Criteria

  • For IMA—Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 1997 and not later than 1st January 2003 only are eligible. 
  • For Indian Naval Academy—Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 1997 and not later than 1st January 2002 only are eligible. 
  • For Air Force Academy— 20 to 24 years as on 01 January 2022 i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January 1997 and not later than 1st January 2001 (Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 yrs. i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January 1995 and not later than 1st January 2002) only are eligible. 
  •  For Officers' Training Academy—(SSC Course for men) unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 1996 and not later than 1st January 2002 only are eligible. 
  • For Officers' Training Academy—(SSC Women Non-Technical Course) Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1996 and not later than 1st January 2002

CDS 1 2022 Physical Standard

  • The Armed Forces Medical Services are responsible for ensuring the selection of ‘Medically Fit’ individuals into the Armed Forces. 
  • Clinical methods of examinations are laid down by O/O DGAFMS. 
  • Female candidates will be examined by female medical officers and specialists. In case of non-availability, they will be examined by the Medical Officer in the presence of a female attendant.
  • Candidates who have undergone radial keratotomy are permanently unfit.
