TISSNET 2023 Exam Pattern: Mode, Marks Distribution, Marking Scheme, Syllabus

TISSNET 2023 Exam Pattern is set by its conducting authority Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). TISS National Entrance Test is a Computer-Based Test conducted to offer admission into full-time Postgraduate Degree programmes. Through TISSNET 2023, candidates will get admission into M.A., M.Sc., MHA., M.P.H., Law courses offered by Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad campuses, and other centres locations like Chennai and Nagaland. TISSNET 2023 Exam Pattern

Candidates should follow the TISSNET exam pattern for scoring well in the exam as question paper structure gives a clear picture of how the exam is going to be and applicants can plan accordingly. Check the TISSNET 2023 paper pattern given below in detail:

  • Mode of Examination: The exam will conduct in Online mode (Computer-Based Test).
  • Time Allotted: The duration of the test is 100 minutes (one hour and 40 minutes) from 02:00 pm to 03:40 pm.
  • Number of Questions: A tot of 100 questions will be asked in the TISS exam.
  • Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) will be asked in the exam. 
  • Marking Scheme: There is no negative marking for any programmes in TISSNET exam.
  • Medium: Question will be asked in English language only.

In case the candidate is selected for more than one programme after National Entrance Test (NET), Pre-Interview Test and Personal Interview, admission will be offered to the programme higher in the order of preference. 

TISSNET Marking Scheme 2023

Tata Institute of Social Sciences defines the marking scheme for each section in TISSNET exam. There will be 100 questions each of 01 marks. General Awareness section has a weightage of 40 marks, while English Proficiency, Mathematics and Logical Reasoning section carry 30 marks each. There will be no negative marking for any wrong answer or unattempted question.

TISSNET Selection Procedure 2023

Candidates who will qualify TISSNET entrance test have to appear in the next round of TISSNET Selection Procedure which is a pre-written test.

Candidates have to attempt 2 sections in the pre-written test:
  1. In Section 1, candidates have to write an essay of about 1000 words on the asked topic. Generally, essay from contemporary socio-political, cultural, economic and political significance topics are asked.
  2. In Section 2, candidates have to answer questions related to a given case study.

After giving the pre-written test, candidates have to appear for a personal interview

Distribution of Marks

  • TISS Exam: 100 marks
  • Pre-written Test: 50 marks
  • Personal Interview: 75 marks

The total marks allotted for admission in TISS is 225 marks.
